Seg\u00fan afirm\u00f3, este plan constituye el mayor rearme de la historia del ej\u00e9rcito de ese pa\u00eds. Enmarcado en una Revisi\u00f3n general de las FFAA Checas, el Plan de Equipamiento del Ej\u00e9rcito prev\u00e9 la incorporaci\u00f3n de plataformas y sistemas de armas con las m\u00e1s avanzadas tecnolog\u00edas, que permitan disponer de adecuadas capacidades de combate, para aplicar en posibles escenarios de conflicto en los pr\u00f3ximos 40 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>DUBLIN \u2014 In a remarkable speech in Prague today, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2022\/07\/czech-republic-declares-intent-to-buy-24-f-35s-passing-on-gripen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Czech Republic\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0most senior army leader demanded, as an \u201cabsolute necessity.\u201d that the service embarks on its \u201cbiggest rearmament\u201d ever.<\/p>\n<p>Major General Karel \u0158ehka,\u00a0chief of the General Staff of the Czech Republic Army, told delegates at the Command Assembly convened to announce the army\u2019s strategic and procurement plans for 2023 that \u201cserious challenges await us,\u201d as he reflected on the \u201ccrisis\u201d in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2022\/11\/ukraine-held-off-russia-for-nine-months-heres-what-it-needs-to-keep-going\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ukraine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe biggest rearmament of the army in the country\u2019s history is no longer just a wish, but an absolute necessity,\u201d \u0158ehka said.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s actions have left the Czech Army with many urgent tasks that can no longer be postponed, he said, before unveiling a five point plan covering long-term priorities.<\/p>\n<p>The plan involves a defense review, which \u0158ehka confirmed is already underway; a vision for army future warfare; equipment modernization projects being accelerated (notably command and control, intelligence, fires and force protection); changes to the army\u2019s current personnel plan described as \u201cunsustainable\u201d and a debate about the future security priorities of the Czech Republic more generally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we are already deciding today on the acquisition of weapons platforms for the next 40 years, it is absolutely necessary to have a good idea of \u200b\u200bhow we will fight,\u201d \u0158ehka said,\u00a0according to a transcript of the speech posted on the army\u2019s website. \u201cThat\u2019s why I set up my Future Warfare Council with a number of task forces. We are working on it intensively and I expect the final output by the middle of next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Remarking on the state of procurement, he said that the country too often plays \u201ccatch up\u201d on acquiring equipment that was needed much sooner \u2014 including tanks, helicopters, logistics vehicles and guns.<\/p>\n<p>In July, Prague announced it had started negotiations for CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicles and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2022\/07\/czech-republic-declares-intent-to-buy-24-f-35s-passing-on-gripen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">F-35 fifth-generation fighter jets<\/a>\u00a0with the Swedish and United States governments respectively. The CV90 partnership with Sweden follows a prolonged effort to acquire over 200 new IFVs which saw Prague cancel a prior tender after two of three industry bidders removed their proposals.
