Est\u00e1n probando la tecnolog\u00eda de &#8220;viento desplegable&#8221;, propuesta para ser utilizada en comunidades remotas y como medio r\u00e1pido de asistencia en casos de emergencias y cat\u00e1strofes.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>A team of public and private laboratories working to provide disaster relief organizations and the military with reliable renewable power solutions is testing the proposed \u201cdeployable wind\u201d technology in remote communities.<\/p>\n<p>The National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Idaho National Laboratory have spent four years working in concert with Sandia National Laboratories to find \u201cfast and reliable\u201d power solutions for \u201cconflicts and disasters,\u201d a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrel.gov\/news\/program\/2022\/how-wind-turbines-could-power-defense-and-disaster-relief.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nov. 22 press release<\/a>\u00a0from NREL stated.<\/p>\n<p>Though it noted that modular solar panels are \u201ceasy to ship and install,\u201d the team is focusing on wind solutions due to a potential lack of \u201csteady\u201d sunshine in locations of conflicts and disasters. This required innovations that could allow a wind turbine to arrive and be deployed quickly,\u00a0the release said.<\/p>\n<p>Brent Summerville, a distributed wind energy systems engineer at NREL who contributed to the project, said that \u201cportable\u201d wind turbines that can be assembled and deployed fast is a \u201cwhole different challenge than the wind energy industry was used to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, the team was able to design a 20-kilowatt wind turbine that,\u00a0along with \u201ca few solar panels and batteries,\u201d could fit into the 20-foot shipping containers the military and the American Red Cross often use.<\/p>\n<p>The team hosted a virtual workshop in June where wind turbine suppliers discussed the potential of this technology with military and disaster response organizations, and it heard from them that they want evidence of successful test deployments, according to the NREL release.<\/p>\n<p>Sandia National Laboratories mechanical engineer Brent Houchens said the project focuses on extreme cases where a \u201ctotal loss of power\u201d is untenable.
