Las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel (FDI) junto a la empresa Elbit Systems, informaron que se han realizado con \u00e9xito, los ensayos al Sistema de Protecci\u00f3n Activa (APS) para veh\u00edculos blindados \u201cIron Fist\u201d (Pu\u00f1o de hierro). Instalado en el Transporte Blindado a ruedas (APC) 8×8 EITAN, \u201cIron Fist\u201d otorga mayor supervivencia a la tripulaci\u00f3n, gracias a su capacidad de neutralizar amenazas como cohetes Atan y misiles. Especialmente apto para su empleo en entornos de combate urbano, \u201cIron Fist\u201d llega para complementar la familia de sistemas de protecci\u00f3n Activa (APS) desarrollados por Israel, como el APS \u201cTrophy\u201d ya en servicio en tanques de batalla Merkava de ese pa\u00eds y tambi\u00e9n adoptado por EUA para el M1 Abrams.<\/p>\n
Israel\u2019s Ministry of Defense, IDF and Elbit Systems Land Division jointly announced the completion of a successful series of “Iron Fist” Active Protection System tests. The defense system deployed to “Eitan” APCs intercepted anti-tank threats in various challenging scenarios.<\/p>\n
The “Iron Fist” system is an advanced active protection system that provides 360-degree coverage against multi-range threats in open and urban environments. In addition to its defensive capabilities, the \u201dIron Fist\u201d provides APC teams with fire source location to close the fire circle in multi-threat combat arenas.<\/p>\n
The system includes an electro-optic sensor suit, searching and tracking radar, and a reaction suit with launchers and interceptors, neutralizing threats at a safe distance from the APC.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Head of the Defense Tank and APC Directorate in the Israel Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Oren Giber: “The Tank and APC Directorate is currently completing its preparation for the delivery of the self-developed Eitan advanced 8×8 wheeled APC to the IDF. The Iron Fist system is an important part of this project. (It) will substantially improve the protection of the Eitan APC and enhance the vehicle’s maneuverability in combat while protecting combat soldiers.”<\/p>\n
IDF Ground Forces Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. Aviram Sela: “The Iron Fist system is part of the IDF Ground Forces’ efforts to enhance protection measures for forces on the battlefield. The system will expand the operational capabilities of the \u2018Eitan\u2019 wheeled APC and D9 bulldozers combat teams. This series of successful tests is a significant milestone in the joint development process for the Ground Forces, the Ministry of Defense, and Elbit Systems.”<\/p>\n
