El mismo est\u00e1 destinado a impulsar y financiar a las peque\u00f1as y medianas empresas, para que incorporen progresivamente las tecnolog\u00edas de AM (Additive Manufacturing) en sus respectivos procesos productivos. En ese marco, el conglomerado industrial Lockheed Martin se ha asociado con Sintavia, una empresa mediana especializada en AM de piezas met\u00e1licas, para incursionar en diferentes alternativas de fabricaci\u00f3n de componentes met\u00e1licos empleando AM, en reemplazo de piezas de fundici\u00f3n o forjadas. Con \u201cAM Forward\u201d como mecanismo facilitador de la asociaci\u00f3n entre empresas, los participantes y las agencias del gobierno, fortalecen y optimizan la base Industrial para la defensa de ese pa\u00eds, al incursionar en modernas tecnolog\u00edas emergentes como AM.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Dive Brief:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lockheed Martin is expanding its partnership with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20221206006041\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contract additive metal manufacturer<\/a>\u00a0Sintavia to explore using 3D printing as an alternative to traditional castings and forgings, the company announced last week.<\/li>\n<li>The defense contractor is focusing on 3D printing for its ability to improve manufacturing efficiency and produce parts with greater detail and design opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>The new collaboration will research additional additive manufacturing technologies such as laser power bed fusion and electron beam-directed energy deposition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"hybrid-ad-wrapper hide-small show-large\">\n<div class=\"hybrid-ad-inner-wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Dive Insight:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sintavia and Lockheed Martin\u2019s expanded collaboration builds on the Biden administration\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/05\/06\/fact-sheet-biden-administration-celebrates-launch-of-am-forward-and-calls-on-congress-to-pass-bipartisan-innovation-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AM Forward<\/a>\u201d initiative, aimed at helping small to mid-sized companies adopt additive manufacturing technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Lockheed Martin was among several major OEMs that made\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.astroa.org\/amforward\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">public commitments to participate<\/a>\u00a0in the initiative when it was announced in May. The companies, including firms such as Honeywell and Boeing, pledged to purchase additive parts from small to mid-sized enterprises, and offer training and technical assistance to help their suppliers integrate new additive technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Additional commitments Lockheed Martin outlined in its March 2022\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5b24027f2487fd3c94472e52\/t\/635ad18846f54c29b6169826\/1666896264908\/AM+Forward+Letter+%28lockheed%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter of intent<\/a>\u00a0include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with suppliers to explore additive manufacturing techniques as an alternative to castings and forgings;<\/li>\n<li>Work with AM Forward participants and government agencies to establish a consortium to share material properties and design data and to develop a framework for an \u201cApproved Supplier List\u201d to simplify the procurement process of additive parts;<\/li>\n<li>Share existing Lockheed Martin additive manufacturing learning resources with suppliers when able; and<\/li>\n<li>Work with the community and technical college partners to explore adding additive to the advanced manufacturing program and engage with regional suppliers to scale the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Partnering with Sintavia will specifically help the defense contractor to fulfill its first goal of researching alternatives to traditional manufacturing methods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur partnership with Lockheed Martin seeks to identify and streamline manufacturing inefficiencies, specifically in the production of flight critical structures,\u201d Sintavia founder and CEO Brian Neff said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The defense contractor\u2019s participation in the White House initiative lends itself to the company\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturingdive.com\/news\/how-lockheed-martin-is-tackling-hypersonic-capabilities\/636916\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">development of hypersonic weapons<\/a>. 3D printing can open up the design space for parts, making it ideal for tackling engineering problems that come with building systems that travel at extreme speeds.<\/p>\n<p>By helping to deploy additive manufacturing equipment throughout its suppliers\u2019 operations, Lockheed Martin is also establishing a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturingdive.com\/news\/the-department-of-defense-seeks-additive-manufacturing-to-support-hypersonic\/636317\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">needed supply base<\/a>\u00a0for hypersonic weapons parts, as the government increasingly calls on defense contractors to produce the advanced technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSintavia and Lockheed Martin are committed to improving the capability, agility and competitiveness of the defense industrial supply base,\u201d Neff said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fuente:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supplychaindive.com\/news\/lockheed-martin-teams-up-to-advance-3d-printing\/638886\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>https:\/\/www.supplychaindive.com<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La administraci\u00f3n del presidente Biden (EUA), lleva adelante un programa de incentivo a la industria denominado \u201cAM forward Initiative\u201d.
