Rheinmetall Denel Munitions de Sud\u00e1frica, subsidiaria del conglomerado industrial para la defensa Rheinmetall de Alemania, ha recibido un importante contrato de compra de munici\u00f3n de artiller\u00eda de 155mm, por parte de un miembro de la NATO. Un contrato de 5 a\u00f1os para la producci\u00f3n de la munici\u00f3n\u00a0155mm M2005 V-LAP\u00a0(Velocity enhanced Long Artillery Projectile). Esta munici\u00f3n, normalizada para su empleo en los modernos sistemas de artiller\u00eda 155 mm de los pa\u00edses de la Alianza Atl\u00e1ntica, permite batir blancos a mayores distancias, al disponer de Base Bleed y propulsi\u00f3n adicional. Adem\u00e1s, su carga propulsora modular M92 incrementa la velocidad en boca del proyectil, reduciendo asimismo la erosi\u00f3n en el tubo del arma. Escenarios de guerra como la invasi\u00f3n de Rusia a Ucrania, est\u00e1n demostrando la importancia de disponer de sistemas de armas de artiller\u00eda con gran alcance y poder de fuego. Ello ha dado un renovado impulso a la reactivaci\u00f3n de la infraestructura industrial de producci\u00f3n de munici\u00f3n, que estaba ociosa en muchos pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n

A subsidiary of the Rheinmetall concern has received a major order for the production of 155 mm artillery ammunition.<\/p>\n

This is\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0on the website of the German concern.<\/p>\n

One of the NATO member countries awarded the South African subsidiary\u00a0Rheinmetall<\/a>\u00a0Denel Munition a framework contract for the supply of 155mm ammunition of the proven Assegai product line.<\/p>\n

The order value is in the mid three-digit million EUR range.<\/p>\n

The framework agreement was concluded in December and has a term of five years.<\/p>\n

The five years framework contract provides for the delivery of 155mm M2005 V-LAP (Velocity Enhanced Long Range Artillery Projectile) projectiles, M92 modular charges and various fuzes.<\/p>\n

The 155mm M2005 V-LAP projectile features a high fragmentation effect as well as extended range through rocket and base bleed technology. The ammunition is already deployed in several NATO countries.<\/p>\n

The German concern notes that the M2005 HE V-LAP projectile is an advanced modern artillery ammunition.<\/p>\n

The M2005 projectile can be used with suitable NATO standard fuzes and JBMoU compatible modular charge systems and can be fired from any compatible 155mm weapon system.<\/p>\n

Jointly owned by Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH (51%) of Germany and Denel (Pty) Ltd, Rheinmetall Denel Munition produces a wide variety of ammunition such as 155 mm artillery ammunition, 60, 81 and 120 mm mortars, 40 mm grenades and 76\/62 mm Naval Rounds, aircraft bombs and mine breaching systems.<\/p>\n

Rheinmetall Denel Munition also builds ammunition filling plants for export and manufactures missile subsystems.<\/p>\n

In August 2022, another unnamed member country of the North Atlantic Alliance placed an order for the upgraded 155-mm ammunition from the\u00a0Assegai<\/a>\u00a0product line. Delivery will take place over the next two years. The contract is worth a figure in the upper-two-digit million-euro range.<\/p>\n
