Expres\u00f3 asimismo que est\u00e1n trabajando junto con la empresa Android Technology, en la adaptaci\u00f3n de sus UGV de reconocimiento \u201cMarker\u201d, para que sean capaces de identificar los tanques citados, adquirirlos y destruirlos. De ser cierto, se tratar\u00eda de una de las primeras experiencias del posible escenario de combate \u201cfuturo\u201d entre plataformas terrestres \u201cRobot Vs Tanque\u201d, Seg\u00fan algunos expertos como S. Bendett del <u>Center for a New American Security\u00a0<\/u>(CNA), resulta una idea extremadamente optimista por parte de los desarrolladores rusos. Esta plataforma aut\u00f3noma enfrentar\u00eda a dos de los m\u00e1s poderosos y modernos tanques de batalla del mundo. Y si bien es cierto que Rusia hace a\u00f1os desrrolla y emplea UGV en tareas de apoyo a las operaciones, tambi\u00e9n se sabe que los UGV \u201cMarker\u201d ya han sido probados en Ucrania en misiones de reconocimiento terrestre y se han perdido en combate, sin obtener los resultados esperados.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"drop-cap\">A Russian manufacturer says it is adapting one of its ground robots to target <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defenseone.com\/policy\/2023\/01\/us-send-31-m1-abrams-tanks-ukraine\/382184\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abrams<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defenseone.com\/threats\/2023\/01\/the-d-brief-january-25-2023\/382179\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leopard<\/a>\u00a0tanks\u2014the types heading to Ukraine from the United States, Germany, Poland and other countries.<\/p>\n<p>Dmitry Rogozin, a former head of of the Russian space corporation Roscosmos and current head of the \u201cRoyal Wolves\u201d group, which advises the Russian government, took to Telegram on Wednesday to announce that his group was working with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Russian_Foundation_for_Advanced_Research_Projects_in_the_Defense_Industry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advanced Research Foundation<\/a>\u00a0and a company called Android Technology to develop a combat version of Android\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.popsci.com\/technology\/russia-completes-research-on-marker-robot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marker ground reconnaissance robot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone agrees that our strike [version] of the Marker, before the arrival of the Abrams and Leopards in Ukraine, should be prepared for their destruction,\u201d Rogozin\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/rogozin_do\/3659\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ria.ru\/20230126\/robot-1847486160.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a>\u00a0published by Russian news site RIA Novosti, Rogozin said the Marker would \u201cbe able to automatically detect and hit the \u2018Abrams\u2019, \u2018Leopard\u2019 and other vehicles due to the electronic catalog in the control system with images of enemy equipment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, Android made headlines with<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defenseone.com\/technology\/2018\/07\/russia-may-put-androids-orbit-next-year-state-media-says\/149927\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0a claim<\/a>\u00a0that it would put a robotic cosmonaut named FEDOR onto the International Space Station. That hasn\u2019t happened.<\/p>\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"l-content-row l-relative\">\n<div class=\"content-body wysiwyg l-content-well wysiwyg-article\">\n<p>Russia is unlikely to field ground combat robots to Ukraine in large numbers, said Sam Bendett, an adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security and an adviser at the CNA Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt appears that most of the existing Markers, 3 out of 5, will in fact be tested in Ukraine, and can be lost in combat,\u201d Bendett said via email. \u201cIt also appears that Android Technology is actually ok with that, indicating a willingness to respond to the [Ministry of Defense] needs for improved weapons and tactics, and perhaps indicating that the company is working on other projects that can build on the Marker experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"l-content-row l-relative\">\n<div class=\"content-body wysiwyg l-content-well content-body-last\">\n<p>How well would a Russian robot perform against a well-trained human tank crew? On Twitter, Bendett\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SamBendett\/status\/1618610367135100933?s=20&amp;t=o2hGP6hFflb_UJ_7NBlmsw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expressed\u00a0<\/a>skepticism, calling the announcement mostly a PR stunt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrevious Marker tests &#8211; at least those made public &#8211; were against small UAVs, and these [unmanned ground vehicles, or UGVs] conducted tests for orienting in a complex space like a forest, but not an actual battlefield where multiple countermeasures are trying to destroy the vehicle. Moreover, Western tanks will be part of combined arms formations with aerial support like drones and UAVs, which are going to hunt for any Russian target, including the likes of Marker ground vehicles. Rogozin&#8217;s earlier claims of Marker as a recon UGV were more realistic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>UGV makers, like most Russian technology firms, are somewhat hampered by Western efforts to stop the flow of computer components to Russia. But these sanctions have had uneven effects, according to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/silverado.org\/news\/report-russia-shifting-import-sources-amid-u-s-and-allied-export-restrictions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>\u00a0out this week from the Silverado Policy Accelerator.<\/p>\n<p>Android\u2019s CEO Evgeny Dudorov said last month that technology sanctions have had little impact on his company\u2019s ability to score key component parts, according to Bendett.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDudorov thinks that investments from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade will allow the domestic robotics industry to catch up with the leading players in about 1.5-2 years, and fully align with the market leaders in 10-12 years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Bendett called Dudorov\u2019s assessment \u201coptimistic\u201d given \u201cthe continued reliance of the Russian high-tech sector on imported components.
