Entre otros logros, cofund\u00f3 la multinacional Intel y acu\u00f1\u00f3 el concepto de &#8220;Ley de Moore&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/ourworldindata.org\/grapher\/transistors-per-microprocessor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/ourworldindata.org\/grapher\/transistors-per-microprocessor&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1680024280119000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2U75iDo5FES00CGq8hIRXj\">https:\/\/ourworldindata.org\/<wbr \/>grapher\/transistors-per-<wbr \/>microprocessor<\/a>) en 1965, una predicci\u00f3n de que la potencia inform\u00e1tica aumentar\u00eda exponencialmente porque la cantidad de transistores por microchip se duplicar\u00eda aproximadamente cada dos a\u00f1os. Moore recibi\u00f3 la Medalla de Honor IEEE 2008.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Mr Moore started working on semiconductors in the 1950s and co-founded the Intel Corporation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">He famously predicted that computer processing powers would double every year &#8211; later revised to every two &#8211; an insight known as Moore&#8217;s Law.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">That &#8220;law&#8221; became the bedrock for the computer processor industry and influenced the PC revolution.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Two decades before the computer revolution began, Moore wrote in a paper that integrated circuits would lead &#8220;to such wonders as home computers &#8211; or at least terminals connected to a central computer &#8211; automatic controls for automobiles, and personal portable communications equipment&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">He observed, in the 1965 article, that thanks to technological improvements the number of transistors on microchips had roughly doubled every year since integrated circuits were invented a few years earlier.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"piano-inline1\">His prediction that this would continue became known as Moore&#8217;s Law, and it helped push chipmakers to target their research to make this come true.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>After Moore&#8217;s article was published, memory chips became more efficient and less expensive at an exponential rate.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12037\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12037\" style=\"width: 976px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12037\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/129141903_4eafb069-1db7-47b5-ba79-9607983448d3.jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"976\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/129141903_4eafb069-1db7-47b5-ba79-9607983448d3.jpg.webp 976w, https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/129141903_4eafb069-1db7-47b5-ba79-9607983448d3.jpg-300x96.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/129141903_4eafb069-1db7-47b5-ba79-9607983448d3.jpg-768x246.webp 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 976px) 100vw, 976px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12037\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mr Moore&#8217;s article contained this cartoon, predicting a time when computers would be sold alongside other consumer goods<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">After earning his PhD, Moore joined the Fairchild Semiconductor laboratory which manufactured commercially viable transistors and integrated circuits.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">The expansion of that company lay the groundwork for the transformation of the peninsula of land south of San Francisco into what is now known as Silicon Valley.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">In 1968 Moore and Robert Noyce left Fairchild to start Intel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Moore&#8217;s work helped drive significant technological progress around the world and allowed for the advent of personal computers and Apple, Facebook and Google.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">&#8220;All I was trying to do was get that message across, that by putting more and more stuff on a chip we were going to make all electronics cheaper,&#8221; Moore said in a 2008 interview.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">The Intel Corporation paid tribute to its co-founder,\u00a0<a class=\"ssrcss-k17ofw-InlineLink e1no5rhv0\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intel\/status\/1639418740243861504\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saying in a tweet:<\/a>\u00a0&#8220;we lost a visionary&#8221;.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Intel&#8217;s current CEO Pat Gelsinger said Gordon Moore had defined the technology industry through his insight and vision, and inspired technologists and entrepreneurs across the decades.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">&#8220;He leaves behind a legacy that changed the lives of every person on the planet. His memory will live on.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">&#8220;I am humbled to have known him,&#8221; Mr Gelsinger\u00a0<a class=\"ssrcss-k17ofw-InlineLink e1no5rhv0\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PGelsinger\/status\/1639418044895334400\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said in a tweet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Moore dedicated his later life to philanthropy, after starting a foundation with his wife Betty that focussed on environmental causes, known as the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Among those causes included protecting the Amazon River basin and salmon streams in the US, Canada and Russia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">&#8220;Those of us who have met and worked with Gordon will forever be inspired by his wisdom, humility and generosity,&#8221; the foundation&#8217;s president Harvey Fineberg said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-11r1m41-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">In 2002, Moore received the Medal of Freedom &#8211; the highest civilian honour in the US &#8211; from President George W Bush.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Fuente:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-65073812\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>https:\/\/www.bbc.com<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El legendario qu\u00edmico, tecn\u00f3logo y fil\u00e1ntropo Gordon Moore falleci\u00f3 el viernes en su casa de Haw\u00e1i a la edad de 94 a\u00f1os.
