En consecuencia, las NWN tambi\u00e9n pueden emular los procesos sin\u00e1pticos que permiten funciones cognitivas de orden superior, como el aprendizaje y la memoria.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n<div role=\"paragraph\">Nanowire networks (NWNs) mimic the brain\u2019s neurosynaptic connectivity and emergent dynamics. Consequently, NWNs may also emulate the synaptic processes that enable higher-order cognitive functions such as learning and memory. A quintessential cognitive task used to measure human working memory is the\u00a0<i>n<\/i>-back task. In this study, task variations inspired by the\u00a0<i>n<\/i>-back task are implemented in a NWN device, and external feedback is applied to emulate brain-like supervised and reinforcement learning. NWNs are found to retain information in working memory to at least\u00a0<i>n<\/i>\u00a0= 7 steps back, remarkably similar to the originally proposed \u201cseven plus or minus two\u201d rule for human subjects.
