La empresa francesa TURGIS & GAILLARD ha presentado el “AAROK”, su nuevo sistema UAS de la categor\u00eda MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance), que por sus dimensiones y prestaciones, resulta el drone de mayor tama\u00f1o fabricado en ese pa\u00eds. Con un peso total de despegue de 5400 Kg, puede llevar una carga de hasta 1500 kg, que incluye tanto sistemas de armas (misiles y bombas guiadas) as\u00ed como sofisticado equipamiento \u00f3ptico y sensores para misiones ISR. Por sus caracter\u00edsticas, puede considerarse similar al sistema estadounidense MQ-9 Reaper o al UAS Akinci de Turqu\u00eda, La empresa tiene como objetivo incursionar en el mercado de los drones de ataque de grandes prestaciones, que ha tenido un enorme crecimiento en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os y en el que EUA, China y Turqu\u00eda compiten exitosamente.<\/p>\n

In something of a surprise development, a new French-made drone, the Aarok, has emerged in prototype form ahead of the Paris Air Show trade exhibition next week. The Aarok uncrewed aircraft system, or UAS, is a new addition to the medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) segment and is intended to fly intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), as well as strike missions. For the latter, it is planned to carry the French-made AASM Hammer<\/a>, a precision-guided weapon with an extended standoff capacity and different warhead sizes.<\/p>\n

The Aarok is a product of a previously little-known French defense contractor, Turgis & Gaillard, which has steadily expanded its operations in its home country, culminating in the impressive Aarok prototype. Weighing in at around 5.4 tons, in maximum takeoff configuration, the drone has attracted attention on account of its size. Its 72-foot wingspan is actually only marginally larger than the U.S.-made\u00a0MQ-9A Reaper<\/a>, with its wingspan of a little over 69 feet, but the fuselage is considerably more bulky in comparison.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
