Los sistemas denominados LASSO (Low Altitude Stalking and Strike Ordnance) pueden ser transportados por el soldado individual, emplean un tubo para su lanzamiento y est\u00e1n equipados con una carga \u00fatil letal, capaz de ocasionar severos da\u00f1os en tanques y otros veh\u00edculos blindados.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">WASHINGTON \u2014 The U.S. Army kicked off a program to quickly provide soldiers a portable, tank-busting drone, amid ballooning use of similar equipment in the Russia-Ukraine war.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The service\u2019s Program Executive Office Soldier, or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2023\/01\/05\/army-green-lights-an-advanced-version-of-its-mixed-reality-goggle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PEO Soldier<\/a>, this month announced the Low Altitude Stalking and Strike Ordnance venture, or LASSO, and a responsibility for lethal unmanned systems, adding that the need for such gear is \u201curgent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">LASSO systems can be carried by troops, use a tube for launches and are strapped with a lethal payload, according to the office, which specializes in equipment including uniforms, body armor, night-vision devices and guns. The kit also features an electro-optical and infrared sensor, precision flight controls and the ability to track and engage far-off targets, it said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The one-way, or \u201csuicide\u201d drone is tailored for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/electronic-warfare\/2022\/10\/08\/family-affair-us-army-pursues-three-synced-electronic-warfare-systems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">infantry brigade combat teams<\/a>\u00a0and is expected to be in soldiers\u2019 hands in 2024. Feedback and updates will follow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cAs the Army prepares to engage near peer threats in a conventional conflict, it was evident that our infantry brigade combat teams are in need of additional organic anti-tank capabilities,\u201d Jason Amadi, an office spokesperson, told C4ISRNET July 27. \u201cPEO Soldier\u2019s expertise is supporting the infantry brigade combat teams. No one is better suited to develop and field this capability to IBCT soldiers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Army is still finalizing details related to contracts\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/industry\/2023\/07\/26\/l3harris-leidos-collaborate-on-us-armys-athena-reconnaissance-jet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">with defense industry<\/a>, Amadi said, but the plan is \u201cto focus initial phases of the LASSO program on currently available systems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Bomb-laden drones have proven popular in the Russia-Ukraine war, with the clashing militaries attempting to scout, coordinate and attack from deeper and safer distances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cBoth sides are leaning heavily on FPV-type drones \u2014 light, portable, kamikaze, expendable systems,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cna.org\/our-experts\/bendett-samuel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Samuel Bendett<\/a>, an expert at the Center for Naval Analyses, told C4ISRNET. \u201cThere\u2019s a need, right now, for a large number of FPV-type drones. But there\u2019s also a need to advance that development further out, beyond just the immediate line of contact, to where these drones can strike in the rear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The U.S. has promised Kyiv hundreds of AEVEX Aerospace Phoenix Ghost and AeroVironment Switchblade loitering munitions.
