Las principales conclusiones del Anuario 2024 del SIPRI\u00a0son que el n\u00famero y los tipos de armas nucleares en desarrollo han aumentado a medida que los Estados profundizan su dependencia de la disuasi\u00f3n nuclear.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The nine nuclear-armed states\u2014the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, China, India, Pakistan, the Democratic People\u2019s Republic of Korea (North Korea) and Israel\u2014continued to modernize their nuclear arsenals and\u00a0several deployed new nuclear-armed or nuclear-capable weapon systems in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Of the total global inventory of an estimated\u00a0<strong>12\u00a0121 warheads<\/strong>\u00a0in January 2024, about<strong>\u00a09585<\/strong>\u00a0were in military stockpiles for potential use\u00a0(see the table below). An estimated 3904 of those warheads were deployed with missiles and aircraft\u2014<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">60 more than in January 2023<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2014and the rest were in central storage. Around 2100 of the deployed warheads were kept in a state of high operational alert on ballistic missiles.
