The National Training and Simulation Association sponsored the expo in support of the Congressional Modeling and Simulation Caucus. The event provided information and demonstrations highlighting modeling and simulation efforts across various domains, including healthcare, disaster response, infrastructure, transportation, emergency management, and defense.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to working with all of you in bringing modeling and simulation to the forefront of everybody here on the Hill,\u201d Rutherford said. \u201cYou hold the future in your hands. It’s our job here as members of Congress to inform, energize, educate, and coerce more of our members here in the House and in the Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Synthetic Training Environment Cross Functional Team, part of the Army Futures Command, was the only military organization at the expo, showcasing the recently approved One World Terrain software.<\/p>\n
Two years ago, Congress tasked the Army with developing the requirements for One World Terrain.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing here today has shown members of Congress that we answered the mail,\u201d said Gary Frost, STE CFT deputy director, \u201cespecially within the modeling and simulation caucus. We are making a ton of progress.\u201d<\/p>\n
One World Terrain is a key component of the Army\u2019s Synthetic Training Environment. It provides a common, high-resolution, and accurate global geospatial dataset for simulation, mission command, and intelligence systems, supporting collective training, mission rehearsal, and mission execution at the point-of-need.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, One World Terrain is expected to be instrumental for autonomous vehicle navigation, targeting mensuration, and collateral battle damage assessment. It will also help reduce the cognitive load on Soldiers.<\/p>\n
