Estos combustibles BTL (biomasa a l\u00edquido) se sintetizan a partir de residuos secos, tales como rastrojos o residuos de madera de agricultura y silvicultura. El proceso no s\u00f3lo permite la producci\u00f3n de biocombustibles, sino tambi\u00e9n productos qu\u00edmicos relevantes para la industria. En el futuro, los biocombustibles producidos reemplazar\u00e1n parte de los combustibles derivados del petr\u00f3leo, debido a sus numerosas ventajas relacionadas con el medio ambiente y relevantes para el clima que resultan de una combusti\u00f3n limpia y el uso de la biomasa como materia prima renovable.<!--more--><\/p>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"333.96\">Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is studying various thermochemical processes for production of chemical energy carriers from biomass. The Karlsruhe bioliq process has been developed to convert so far largely unused residual biomass into tailored synthetic fuels in a pilot plant. These BTL (biomass to liquid) fuels are synthesized mainly from dry, biogenous residues, such as cereal straw or residual wood from agriculture and forestry. The integrated process chain does not only allow for the production of biofuels, but also of industry-relevant basic products, such as synthesis gas and bulk chemicals. In the future, the biofuelsproduced will replace part of the petroleum-based fuels.
