{"id":15876,"date":"2024-11-12T11:28:36","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T14:28:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/?p=15876"},"modified":"2024-11-12T11:28:36","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T14:28:36","slug":"sistema-que-permitiria-al-us-army-identificar-1-000-objetivos-por-hora","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/?p=15876","title":{"rendered":"Sistema que permitir\u00eda al US Army identificar 1.000 objetivos por hora"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Un grupo de unidades operativas de primer nivel del US Army ha llevado a cabo al menos 10 rondas de experimentos con un sistema de orientaci\u00f3n que ahora se utiliza activamente en el Comando Central de los EE.UU. y se est\u00e1 aplicando para resolver problemas operacionales y log\u00edsticos a nivel mundial.\u00a0Desde que pas\u00f3 por al menos 10 iteraciones, y se planean m\u00e1s en los pr\u00f3ximos meses y a\u00f1os, el comando ha desarrollado el Sistema Inteligente Maven, una combinaci\u00f3n de sensores y software que permite a los usuarios evaluar r\u00e1pidamente un espacio de batalla, recopilar grandes cantidades de datos y analizarlos utilizando inteligencia artificial y aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico para identificar objetivos y atacarlos.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">A collection of premier operational Army units has conducted at least 10 rounds of experiments with a targeting system that is now actively used in U.S. Central Command and is being applied to solve logistics problems globally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The XVIII Airborne Corps, which commands the 82nd Airborne Division, 10th Mountain Division, 101st Airborne Division and 3rd Infantry Division, along with other subordinate units, kicked off the targeting system experiments, dubbed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.army.mil\/article\/263951\/modernization_leaders_use_scarlet_dragon_exercise_to_continue_project_convergence_campaign_of_continuous_learning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scarlet Dragon<\/a>, in late 2020,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2021\/10\/07\/armys-scarlet-dragon-uses-ai-with-navy-air-force-and-marine-assets-to-rapidly-find-id-and-destroy-targets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Army Times previously reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Since going through at least 10 iterations, with more planned in the coming months and years, the command has developed the Maven Smart System, a combination of sensors and software that allows users to quickly assess a battlespace, gather reams of data and analyze that data using artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify targets and strike.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The evolution of that system was laid out Wednesday at the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association TechNet event in Augusta, Georgia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cWhat we\u2019re doing is different,\u201d said Brig. Gen. John Cogbill, the deputy commanding general of the XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. \u201cThis is a tool that we can \u2018fight tonight\u2019 with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">In its first iteration in late 2020, the Scarlet Dragon experiment teamed soldiers from the XVIII Airborne Corps with Marines from II Marine Expeditionary Force. In the training, teams used commercial satellite imagery and an algorithm to identify an inflatable tank in the open on Fort Liberty. The system then passed that data to a Marine missile system, which struck the target.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The \u201cdigital target pass\u201d took 743 minutes, or more than 12 hours, Cogbill said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">But in the ensuing years, and with additional tinkering, that target pass can now be completed in under one minute, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The Scarlet Dragon and other technology initiatives began under former XVIII Airborne Corps commander Gen. Michael Kurilla, who went on to take charge of U.S. Central Command.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Cogbill said that back in 2020, Kurilla told his staff he wanted the first \u201cAI-enabled Corps\u201d in the Army. Once\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.centcom.mil\/ABOUT-US\/LEADERSHIP\/Bio-Article-View\/Article\/2982570\/commander-general-michael-e-kurilla\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kurilla transferred to lead CENTCOM<\/a>, he installed a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.army.mil\/article\/263764\/data_centric_exercise_showcases_joint_capabilities_lethality\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data-centric command approach<\/a>\u00a0that included using elements of the Maven system, Cogbill said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">An\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cset.georgetown.edu\/publication\/building-the-tech-coalition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">analysis report\u00a0<\/a>released this month by the nonprofit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cset.georgetown.edu\/publication\/building-the-tech-coalition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for Security and Emerging Technology<\/a>\u00a0highlighted some of Maven\u2019s development as well as its use by operational units.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cThe ultimate goal is for the system and soldiers to be able to help a commander process 1,000 tactical decisions an hour,\u201d according to the CSET report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Without Maven, \u201cthe firing process is manual and riddled with inefficiencies and the potential for errors,\u201d the report\u2019s authors wrote, \u201cfrom collecting the data to processing it, seeking permission, matching munitions, and granting permission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The XVIII Airborne Corps managed to match the targeting prowess of the time-critical target cell used during Operation Iraqi Freedom, \u201cwidely viewed as the most efficient in U.S. military history,\u201d the authors wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">But while the OIF targeting cell used more than 2,000 staffers to cover a wide area and numerous targets during the 2003 invasion, the current demonstration managed the same workload with 20 soldiers, the report said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Experts within the XVIII Airborne Corps are exploring whether the AI and machine learning approach can also help other unit commanders better \u201csee\u201d and \u201csense\u201d logistics needs, Cogbill said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">That effort would entail providing commanders with a global picture of their supply chains and ways to run scenarios that help them decide how logistics will affect operations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Scarlet Dragon efforts continue, meanwhile, with an experiment scheduled for next month and a series of events throughout 2025, Cogbill said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 kEzXdV body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The system is expected make its large-scale Pacific debut during the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2021\/12\/07\/army-marines-japan-hold-joint-exercises-on-pearl-harbor-attacks-80th-anniversary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yama Sakura training exercise<\/a>\u00a0in late 2026, a U.S.-Japanese military command post exercise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fuente:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/news\/your-army\/2024\/08\/21\/this-system-could-allow-small-army-teams-to-hit-1000-targets-per-hour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Un grupo de unidades operativas de primer nivel del US Army ha llevado a cabo al menos 10 rondas de experimentos con un sistema de&hellip;
