La Guerra en Ucrania puso en evidencia que la mayor demanda de proyectiles de artiller\u00eda y cohetes, pon\u00eda en riesgo las existencias y capacidad de abastecimiento de estos materiales cr\u00edticos, mostrando adem\u00e1s falencias en las capacidades de producci\u00f3n espec\u00edficas.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GDOTS) has completed the first firing test of the US Army\u2019s 4.75-inch (12-centimeter) solid rocket motor, marking a significant milestone in advancing the service\u2019s long-range precision fires capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Tested at GDOTS\u2019 Camden, Arkansas, facility, the engine delivered performance results within one percent of predicted values, according to the manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis successful test reflects the strong partnership between GDOTS and the US Army,\u201d senior vice president and general manager at GDOTS\u00a0<b>Chris Haynes<\/b>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gd-ots.com\/general-dynamics-ordnance-and-tactical-systems-successfully-conducts-first-test-of-4-75-inch-solid-rocket-motor-in-collaboration-with-u-s-army\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to help showcase multi-domain concepts, demonstrate advanced capabilities, and test future concepts for our warfighters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Part of wider efforts to advance future combat capabilities through close industry-military cooperation, the initiative aims to provide affordable precision massed fires and increase magazine depth for US forces.<\/p>\n<p><b>To Enhance Long-Range Capabilities<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Developed by the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation &amp; Missile Center, the 4.75-inch form factor is designed to substantially increase the launcher\u2019s loadout capacity.<\/p>\n<p>GDOTS has not disclosed the enhancement\u2019s scope. However, a comparable\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.anduril.com\/article\/developing-the-future-of-precision-fires-and-affordable-mass-anduril-s-new-rocket-motor-for-the\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">effort<\/a>\u00a0by Anduril is claimed to increase loadout capacity fivefold, enabling 30 guided rockets in a single\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/07\/15\/m142-himars-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS)<\/a>\u00a0pod, up from the current six.<\/p>\n<p>The two efforts are intended to introduce new players to the rocket motor industry, which includes L3Harris\u2019 Aerojet Rocketdyne, Northrop Grumman, and Nammo.<\/p>\n<p><b>General Dynamics, Lockheed Partnership<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The US ramp-up in missile production since the start of the war in Ukraine has created a shortage of solid rocket motors.<\/p>\n<p>To help bridge the supply gap, GDOTS\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.lockheedmartin.com\/2024-08-13-lockheed-martin-and-general-dynamics-announce-solid-rocket-motor-strategic-teaming-agreement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">partnered<\/a>\u00a0with Lockheed Martin in 2024 to produce the motors.<\/p>\n<p>The initial work is focused on producing motors for the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System( a HIMARS munition), followed by a phased transition to other products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaintaining a robust and diverse supply chain for solid rocket motors is critical to advancing our 21st Century Security vision for a stronger, more resilient defense industrial base that keeps our customers around the globe ahead of emerging threats,\u201d president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control,\u00a0<b>Tim Cahill<\/b>,\u00a0said in August 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis agreement enables Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics to ramp production of in-demand solutions more quickly going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fuente:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/08\/11\/general-dynamics-rocket-motor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>General Dynamis (GDOTS) ha completado el primer ensayo del nuevo motor cohete de 4.75\u201d para sus sistemas de artiller\u00eda HIMARS.
