Esta nueva generaci\u00f3n de proyectiles de gran alcance, aptos para operar en ambientes con \u201c<em>Denegaci\u00f3n de GPS<\/em>\u201d, es compatible con las piezas de artiller\u00eda remolcadas y autopropulsadas en servicio actualmente en esa fuerza, lo que implica un extraordinario incremento en el alcance y poder de fuego de los elementos de artiller\u00eda.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">A controlled artillery round that can hit targets from 120 kilometers away in GPS-denied environments was successfully tested at U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona.<\/p>\n<div class=\"default__Floating-sc-1mncpzl-0 kcXmxI\">\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems\u2019 Long Range Maneuvering Projectile, or LRMP, was fired from an M777 howitzer platform using M231 powder charges during an August test, the company announced Monday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The LRMP, a next-generation munition, is designed to extend the range and precision of 155mm artillery systems, the company said. The winged, precision-guided artillery round is highly maneuverable while in flight and can conduct controlled descents to strike both static and moving targets.<\/p>\n<div class=\"default__Floating-sc-1mncpzl-0 kcXmxI\">\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cThis milestone reflects our commitment to delivering disruptive technologies for precision artillery,\u201d Scott Forney, president of General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems, said\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/www.ga.com\/ga-advances-artillery-modernization-with-lrmp-testing\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ga.com\/ga-advances-artillery-modernization-with-lrmp-testing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a company release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cAs the U.S. faces rising threats from near-peer adversaries and increasingly contested environments, affordable, mass-produced artillery is critical,\u201d Forney said in the release. \u201cLRMP meets that need while proving its ability to perform in extreme conditions and reshape long-range firepower.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"default__Floating-sc-1mncpzl-0 kcXmxI\">\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The LRMP can be integrated across all existing artillery platforms used by the U.S. military, according to General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems.
