El citado buque forma parte de una serie de dise\u00f1os novedosos de los astilleros de ese pa\u00eds, de plataformas navales con cubiertas de vuelo totalmente abiertas, que desde hace a\u00f1os se han comenzado a observar. The vessel is one of a number of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/news-features\/new-chinese-mystery-flattop-emerges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unusual designs with open flight decks<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/sea\/chinas-wacky-and-puzzling-new-aircraft-carrier-has-set-sail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">have emerged<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/chinas-drone-carrier-mothership-looks-to-be-in-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">China in recent years<\/a>\u00a0as China\u2019s drone ambitions have increasingly extended into the naval domain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">China\u2019s state-run television station CCTV-7, which focuses on news related to the People\u2019s Liberation Army (PLA),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tv.cctv.com\/2025\/10\/30\/VIDEb4kbyWfGwF9evrW71NIb251030.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">broadcast clips<\/a>\u00a0of the AR-500CJ being tested at sea back on October 30. Google Earth<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It had been suggested that the ship seen in the CCTV-7 footage might be a mysterious\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/sea\/chinas-wacky-and-puzzling-new-aircraft-carrier-has-set-sail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chinese vessel with a large open flight deck<\/a>\u00a0and three superstructures that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/news-features\/new-chinese-mystery-flattop-emerges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>TWZ<\/em>\u00a0was first to report on<\/a>\u00a0last year. That ship bears the logo of the state-run China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and may be named the\u00a0<em>Zhong Chuan Zi Hao<\/em>, and could also be a first-of-its-kind ostensibly civilian research ship, as you can read more about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/sea\/chinas-wacky-and-puzzling-new-aircraft-carrier-has-set-sail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>. Jiangsu Dayang Marine, also known as the New Dayang shipyard, has become particularly notable in this regard. The yard has also produced at least two\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/chinas-drone-carrier-mothership-looks-to-be-in-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">catamaran drone \u2018motherships,\u2019<\/a>\u00a0which\u00a0<em>TWZ<\/em>\u00a0was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/43099\/china-now-has-a-mothership-to-train-its-naval-forces-against-aerial-drone-swarms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">also first to report on in detail<\/a>, as well as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/radar-reflector-covered-chinese-countermeasure-barge-emerges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">various specialized barges<\/a>. These all largely appear to be intended for use in training and\/or testing, and to be particularly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/43099\/china-now-has-a-mothership-to-train-its-naval-forces-against-aerial-drone-swarms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">focused on replicating drone<\/a>\u00a0and\/or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/radar-reflector-covered-chinese-countermeasure-barge-emerges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">electronic warfare threats<\/a>. Just this year,\u00a0<em>TWZ<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/air\/large-cranked-kite-flying-wing-drone-appears-at-chinese-test-base\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">was the first to report<\/a>\u00a0on the emergence of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/air\/massive-chinese-stealth-flying-wing-emerges-at-secretive-base\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">several previously unseen advanced drone designs<\/a>, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/air\/chinas-huge-cj-x-stealth-drone-appears-to-have-been-spotted-in-the-air-for-the-first-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">number of which<\/a>\u00a0are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twz.com\/air\/large-stealth-flying-wing-aircraft-photographed-over-china\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">also notably large<\/a>.
