Esta nueva plataforma es denominada Leopard 2A8 (L2A8) y el Ej\u00e9rcito Alem\u00e1n ya ha requerido 127 tanques que comenzar\u00e1n a entregarse en 2027. Las principales aspectos que se destacan en el L2A8 son: el Sistema de Protecci\u00f3n Activa (APS) \u201cTrophy\u201d de origen israel\u00ed que ahora se fabricar\u00e1 en Alemania, blindaje multicapa que combina acero de alta dureza, tungsteno, pl\u00e1stico y componentes cer\u00e1micos, as\u00ed como una reformulaci\u00f3n integral de sistemas que mejoren la \u201cconciencia situacional\u201d\u2019 de la tripulaci\u00f3n y el control del tiro. Como sistema de arma principal, el L2A8 mantendr\u00e1 la versi\u00f3n m\u00e1s actualizada del ca\u00f1\u00f3n de \u00e1nima lisa de 120mm que equipa a esta familia de MBT.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">COLOGNE, Germany \u2014 Germany\u2019s KNDS this week unveiled the Leopard 2A8, the latest version of the venerable main battle tank that has become a staple of armored formations for more than a dozen countries in Europe and beyond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The tank will be a new build, the first for the Leopard series since 1992, according to German defense officials, after several previous versions that were modernizations of existing tanks. German officials tested Trophy on a previous iteration of the Leopard tank and decided to make it standard equipment for the new series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">According to a Ministry of Defense statement, additional improvements in the A8 variant include better armor and an overall rework of situational-awareness and fire-control features for the crew.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">As in previous Leopard iterations, Rheinmetall\u2019s 120mm smooth-bore main cannon will remain part of the weapons package.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The first batch of new Leopards is slated for a Bundeswehr armored formation in Lithuania, Germany\u2019s first permanent deployment of troops outside its borders since World War II.
