Este trabajo del Boston Consulting Group (BCG), analiza la brecha existente entre la ambici\u00f3n de los MINDEF y la capacidad real de los pa\u00edses, para producir materiales cr\u00edticos como las municiones, en sus m\u00faltiples variantes. El informe analiza los \u201cCinco mitos\u201d que a su juicio frenan la escala y velocidad de producci\u00f3n de la base industrial de defensa. Los mitos expuestos y desarrollados son: Existencias frente a flujos; Inversi\u00f3n de capital; Plazos de entrega; Volatilidad de la demanda; Crecimiento de los costos. Los autores concluyen que la soluci\u00f3n no solo consiste en gastar m\u00e1s, sino en aplicar innovaci\u00f3n en toda la cadena de valor\u00a0para disminuir la “brecha de alistamiento de las capacidades\u201d, asegurando que la industria de defensa pueda responder con rapidez a las necesidades del instrumento militar del pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n

Defense ministries continue to face an\u00a0innovation<\/a>\u00a0readiness gap\u2014the distance between their ambition and their ability to field new capabilities quickly. First identified in 2022 by the Munich Security Conference (MSC) and Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the gap has persisted even as the global security environment becomes more demanding.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s analysis\u2014the fifth in our annual series\u2014considers innovation readiness through the lens of munitions production, an area where innovation is essential to meet demand. Munitions highlight the stark gap in innovative approaches to\u00a0manufacturing<\/a>, design, and commercial models necessary to meet surging demand. In our Defense Innovation Survey, 65% of respondents identified innovation as a key priority, but only 26% said they believe that the pace of innovation at their company is sufficient.<\/p>\n

Fundamental changes are essential to meet the requirements of ministries of defense (MoDs). Governments and industry must build a sustainable operating system to improve production rates for key munitions. Our report addresses five common myths related to munitions and offers practical steps that will enable MoDs and industry to innovate more effectively and increase munitions production capacity. Munitions lie at the heart of credible deterrence, but the obstacles that slow munitions production\u2014fragmented architectures, opaque supply chains, stop-start demand, and misaligned incentives\u2014are the same ones that prevent governments and contractors from fielding defense innovation at speed and scale.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s innovation readiness assessment shows that higher budgets and stronger rhetoric alone will not close the gap\u2014a lesson that extends beyond munitions. What matters is whether ministries and industry can convert ambition into an operating system that consistently meets demand.<\/p>\n
