El programa incluye el gerenciamiento, ingenier\u00eda, materiales y ensayos para la producci\u00f3n del sistema de armas y su integraci\u00f3n a las plataformas navales de esa clase existentes. Se espera que el programa se haya completado en 2032.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The US Navy has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.war.gov\/News\/Contracts\/Contract\/Article\/4448853\/contracts-for-march-31-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">awarded<\/a>\u00a0Lockheed Martin a $1.35-billion contract modification to support production and integration of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/01\/22\/navy-conventional-prompt-strike-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS)<\/a>\u00a0hypersonic weapon system aboard the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/12\/02\/zumwalt-class-destroyer-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The contract covers program management, engineering, systems integration, long-lead materials, testing, and specialized tooling required for missile production and platform integration.<\/p>\n<p>Most work will take place in Denver, Colorado, with completion scheduled for September 2032.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conventional Prompt Strike System<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The award follows the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/01\/22\/ingalls-uss-zumwalt-sea-trials\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">builder\u2019s sea trials<\/a>\u00a0after upgrades by HII Ingalls Shipbuilding, which modified the destroyer to accommodate the CPS system.<\/p>\n<p>The overhaul replaced the ship\u2019s twin 155mm Advanced Gun Systems with four 87-inch missile tubes.<\/p>\n<p>Each tube can carry three Common Hypersonic Glide Body (C-HGB) missiles, a shared hypersonic payload being developed for US Navy and US Army programs.<\/p>\n<p>The CPS system is designed to deliver a non-nuclear strike from sea- and sub-surface platforms at ranges exceeding 2,775 kilometers (1,724 miles).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18577\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18577\" style=\"width: 2048px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18577\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DDG-1000-Arrival-August-19-2023-3-2048x1365-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DDG-1000-Arrival-August-19-2023-3-2048x1365-1.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DDG-1000-Arrival-August-19-2023-3-2048x1365-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DDG-1000-Arrival-August-19-2023-3-2048x1365-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DDG-1000-Arrival-August-19-2023-3-2048x1365-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DDG-1000-Arrival-August-19-2023-3-2048x1365-1-1536x1024.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18577\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) arrives at Ingalls Shipbuilding for a major modernization. Image: Huntington Ingalls Industries<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Expansion Across the Fleet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Integrating CPS significantly expands the Zumwalt-class role from littoral operations to long-range strike in open-ocean environments.<\/p>\n<p>Testing aboard the stealth warship is expected in 2027 or 2028, following delays linked to ongoing land-based testing.<\/p>\n<p>The navy plans to field CPS on additional platforms, including the USS Michael Monsoor (DDG-1001) and USS Lyndon B.
