Un marcado contraste, afirm\u00f3, con los sistemas estadounidenses fragmentados que tienen dificultades para comunicarse o compartir datos.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Ukraine has linked its military\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/2022\/04\/16\/us-army-using-lessons-from-ukraine-war-to-aid-own-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drones<\/a>, sensors and weapons systems into a unified battlefield network, an integration Army Secretary Dan Driscoll told lawmakers Tuesday the U.S. military has yet to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2026\/02\/13\/us-army-leaders-say-future-european-fight-could-mean-1500-targets-daily\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">achieve<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">During a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, Driscoll lauded Kyiv\u2019s \u201cDelta\u201d command and control system and praised its ability to \u201cintegrate every single drone, every sensor and every shooting platform into just one single network.\u201d A stark contrast, he said, to fragmented American systems that struggle to communicate or share data.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The secretary pointed to the Army\u2019s newly launched \u201cOperation Jailbreak,\u201d an effort at Fort Carson, Colorado, where Army engineers and defense contractors are working to break down software barriers that prevent systems from exchanging information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The ability to quickly share information across systems on the battlefield allows forces to move targeting data between drones, sensors and striking systems, therefore speeding up how fast a military can identify and then attack a threat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cFor decades our budget process incentivized companies to protect their intellectual property at all costs,\u201d a process, Driscoll said, that \u201ccreated walled gardens\u201d in the country\u2019s command and control infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Driscoll\u2019s comments underscore just how heavily the American military is studying\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/2022\/04\/16\/us-army-using-lessons-from-ukraine-war-to-aid-own-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lessons<\/a>\u00a0from Ukraine as it adapts to a modern battlefield that is inundated with drones and electronic warfare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Army leaders have increasingly framed battlefield networking as crucial to future wars as the volume of data inputs has grown. Officials earlier this year, informed by the Russia-Ukraine war, warned that a future large-scale conflict in Europe could involve processing around 1,500\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2026\/02\/13\/us-army-leaders-say-future-european-fight-could-mean-1500-targets-daily\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">targets<\/a>\u00a0per day, a pace beyond what any human could manage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Defense companies agreed to send Army equipment, scientists and engineers to Fort Carson so the service could start integrating systems, Driscoll told the committee, saying \u201cwe will force our way through the firewalls, link every system and achieve true right to integrate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The secretary last week said in a social media\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SecArmy\/status\/2051786859391414428?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a>\u00a0that the effort to \u201cdigitally connect\u201d the Army\u2019s systems would be the biggest hackathon in the service\u2019s history, aimed at \u201cbreaking open these historically siloed systems to accelerate decision-making and give our soldiers the decisive edge required to win on the modern battlefield.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Driscoll initially said in his post that some of the industry partners include Boeing, Palantir, Lockheed Martin and Anduril Industries, among others. Before the committee, he later said that by day 10 of the exercise, 30-50 companies had come on board.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Thousands of pieces of equipment would be \u201cjailbroken,\u201d he said, \u201cwhich practically means all of them will be able to share information out of the system and receive information into the system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Once that could be done, Driscoll said, the Army could start using generative artificial intelligence to facilitate decision-making, a model he said the Ukrainians had been using for the entire war.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">When asked why the Army had taken five years to start integrating systems, Driscoll shouldered the responsibility for not moving faster but said that American bureaucracy presents a challenge. However, Driscoll also noted that the U.S. comes with \u201cdeep infrastructure\u201d that he said can be harnessed to move powerfully and quickly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cWe have basically the entire defense industrial base\u2026now moving,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Sen.
