Rather than procuring a complete launcher from a single contractor, the service is developing separate components that can be integrated into a common system.

The modular design is intended to give the army greater flexibility in combining technologies from different suppliers while evaluating autonomous and interoperable launcher concepts.

The award marks the start of the program’s prototype integration work, with the army expected to offer additional awards for CAML components, including the autonomous mobility platform, as it continues its competitive prototyping effort.

“The Army is moving with urgency to deliver adaptable, survivable, and scalable Fires capabilities to Soldiers,” said Lt.
