Northrop Grumman ha presentado el\u00a0PGK-E5, un kit de guiado de \u00faltima generaci\u00f3n dise\u00f1ado para transformar proyectiles de artiller\u00eda calibre 155 mm en municiones guiadas de alta precisi\u00f3n.\u00a0Este dispositivo moderniza la versi\u00f3n actual M 1156, incorporando tecnolog\u00eda anti-interferencia (anti-jamming), lo que le permite operar con eficacia en \u00e1mbitos donde la se\u00f1al GPS est\u00e1 degradada o bloqueada por acciones de guerra electr\u00f3nica.\u00a0Mantiene las mismas dimensiones, forma y modo de empleo que el modelo anterior, por lo que es compatible con las armas de artiller\u00eda en servicio, no requiriendo modificaciones ni reentrenamiento de las tropas.\u00a0Ofrece una precisi\u00f3n excepcional, con un rango de dispersi\u00f3n menor a 30 metros, lo que reduce dr\u00e1sticamente el consumo de munici\u00f3n, minimizando asimismo los da\u00f1os colaterales.\u00a0Se ha iniciado ya la producci\u00f3n de PGK-E5 y se prev\u00e9 que las primeras entregas se realicen en 2028.<\/p>\n

GPS jamming may no longer be enough to throw 155mm artillery off target, thanks to Northrop Grumman\u2019s next-generation Precision Guidance Kit (PGK).<\/p>\n

The PGK E5 upgrades the existing M1156 PGK with advanced anti-jam technology and improved guidance, fuzing, and control systems while retaining the original form factor.<\/p>\n

It delivers first-round accuracy with a circular error probable of less than 30 meters (98 feet), helping reduce collateral damage while increasing the likelihood of hitting the target.<\/p>\n

Designed for existing artillery systems and howitzers, the kit requires minimal equipment modifications or operator retraining, allowing units to field it more quickly.<\/p>\n

The device also uses a NATO-standard deep-intrusion fuze to support compatibility across a range of platforms and 155mm projectiles.<\/p>\n

During recent trials in GPS-degraded conditions, the PGK E5 reportedly exceeded both threshold and objective accuracy requirements.<\/p>\n

Path to Fielding<\/strong><\/p>\n

Northrop Grumman worked with the US Army to shape the PGK E5 around operational requirements.<\/p>\n

Production is now underway at the company\u2019s facility in Plymouth, Minnesota, with initial deliveries expected in early 2028.<\/p>\n
