El tratamiento hogare\u00f1o y el almacenamiento seguro de agua potable, pueden obtenerse mediante pr\u00e1cticas relativamente simples, pero que requieren una importante acci\u00f3n de difusi\u00f3n y aprendizaje. Una de ellas es el empleo de filtros de agua de cer\u00e1mica, los que constituyen soluciones simples, efectivas y de muy bajo costo, adem\u00e1s durables y que no requieren m\u00e1s mantenimiento que una higiene adecuada. Otra enorme ventaja, es disponer de la capacidad de tratamiento del agua, en el \u201cpunto de uso\u201d, o sea el hogar. El presente documento resume importantes experiencias adquiridas por la Cruz Roja en pa\u00edses de Asia, mediante la implementaci\u00f3n de innovadores programas humanitarios, empleando filtros de agua cer\u00e1micos.<!--more--><br \/>\nGlobally, the world is expected to exceed the Millennium Development Goal target of halving the proportion of people without access to safe drinking water by 2015 \u2013 although uncertainties remain regarding the definition of \u201cimproved\u201d, sustainability of access and the quality of data. Despite this statistic, more than 477 million people in communities across Asia still lack access to safe drinking water, leaving them vulnerable to diseases such as diarrhoea, typhoid and hepatitis. When people fall sick, local economies are affected and children stay home from school.
