Este evento realizado en la Real Academia Militar de Sandhurst, desafiaba a los equipos para cumplir seis misiones diferentes a lo largo del itinerario de la patrulla, evaluando las habilidades individuales y de grupo para operar diferentes tipos de drones, en distintas situaciones t\u00edpicas de combate planteadas.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UK has held its first-ever \u201cDrone Wars\u201d competition, bringing together more than 23 teams of soldiers from armored units and engineering units across the British Army to test their drone warfare skills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Held at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.army.mod.uk\/news\/soldiers-compete-on-drone-battlefield\/?utm_source=BritishArmy_Facebook&amp;utm_medium=Social&amp;utm_campaign=Warfighting&amp;fbclid=IwY2xjawUy05VleHRuA2FlbQIxMABwZG9mAWJyaWQRMVdtcHV2cEpCVWJHN1ZEVXpzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeOwBf48cmCtX2Lqr3-DmYj4FXrRFMIs1CBfkMTEOyyZkCT4TaAEqCo9X0cQQ_aem_L6cy59dEMgN5kygUN7E3HA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">competition<\/a> challenged teams to complete six tasks along a patrol route, testing their ability to operate different drone systems in a range of battlefield scenarios.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using first-person view (FPV) drones, participants had to strike a moving vehicle, fly into a bunker and destroy it, and hit a target using video captured by a separate drone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The challenges extended beyond strikes. Soldiers also had to locate teammates and deliver medical supplies, conduct reconnaissance, and identify an enemy position to direct artillery fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was organized by the 16 Air Assault Brigade, the British Army\u2019s lead unit for training soldiers to fight with and against drones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDrones are no longer a specialist field, and every soldier needs to be aware of how to use drones and how to defend against drones used by the enemy,\u201d said Major <strong>Callum Jones<\/strong>, event organizer and member of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Gurkha Rifles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat we are testing is how soldiers use drones tactically, not how well they can fly them \u2026 this is a chance to learn from each other and share skills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"stepping-out-of-comfort-zone\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Stepping Out of Comfort Zone<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The competition also gave soldiers from other units hands-on experience operating drones. Among them was Trooper <strong>Darel Anderson<\/strong> of the Household Cavalry Regiment, who typically drives an armored personnel carrier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anderson used a Skydio drone to locate targets, while his partner, fellow trooper <strong>Harvey Chilman<\/strong>, operated an FPV system to strike them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI was the first in my regiment to qualify as an FPV pilot and I\u2019ve got more than 170 flying hours.
