El anuario 2017 del Instituto para la Paz de Estocolmo \u00a0(SIPRI) recoge datos \u00a0sobre \u00a0el gasto militar mundial: en 2016 fue de 1,686 billones de d\u00f3lares, cifra equivalente al 2,2% del PIB mundial o 227 d\u00f3lares por persona. El gasto total fue m\u00e1s o menos constante en comparaci\u00f3n con 2015, solo un 0,4% superior en t\u00e9rminos reales. El gasto militar en Am\u00e9rica del Norte presenci\u00f3 su primer incremento anual desde 2010, mientras que en Europa Occidental creci\u00f3 un 2,6% en 2015, sigui\u00f3 aumentando en Asia y Ocean\u00eda y Europa Oriental, pero cay\u00f3 en \u00c1frica, Am\u00e9rica Central y del Sur y Caribe y en los pa\u00edses de Oriente Medio . Estados Unidos sigui\u00f3 siendo el mayor presupuesto militar en 2016, \u00a0Su gasto creci\u00f3 un 1,7% en relaci\u00f3n con 2015, el primer incremento anual desde 2010, a\u00f1o en que el gasto militar estadounidense alcanz\u00f3 su nivel m\u00e1s alto\u2026 En 2016 el SIPRI recab\u00f3 informaci\u00f3n fiable y congruente sobre el gasto militar de 148 pa\u00edses , la serie \u00a0ampliada de datos \u00a0en algunos casos se remonta hasta 1949. Al ofrecer datos en d\u00f3lares constantes y actuales y como porcentaje del PIB, la serie ofrece \u00a0indicios sobre la din\u00e1mica del gasto militar y permiten analizar las tendencias a largo plazo \u00a0en diferentes regiones y pa\u00edses.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The SIPRI Military Expenditure Database contains consistent time series on the military spending of countries for the period 1949\u20132016.<\/p>\n
Military expenditure in local currency at current prices is presented according to both the\u00a0financial year\u00a0of each country and according to\u00a0calendar year, calculated on the assumption that, where financial years do not correspond to calendar years, spending is distributed evenly through the year. Figures in constant (2015) and current US $, as a share of GDP and per capita are presented according to calendar year. Figures as a share of government expenditure are presented according to financial year.<\/p>\n
The availability of data varies considerably by country, but for a majority of countries that were independent at the time, data is available from at least the late 1950s. Estimates for regional military expenditure have been extended backwards depending on availability of data for countries in the region, but no estimates for total world military expenditure are available before 1988 due to the lack of data for the Soviet Union.<\/p>\n
