{"id":2620,"date":"2017-12-29T09:23:18","date_gmt":"2017-12-29T12:23:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nachodelatorre.com.ar\/mosconi\/?p=2620"},"modified":"2017-12-29T09:23:18","modified_gmt":"2017-12-29T12:23:18","slug":"nga-national-geospatial-intelligence-agency-lanza-un-audaz-plan-de-reclutamiento-para-contratar-a-los-mejores-de-silicon-valley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/?p=2620","title":{"rendered":"NGA (National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency) lanza un audaz plan de reclutamiento para contratar a los mejores de Silicon Valley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>La agencia de inteligencia USA est\u00e1 hackeando las reglas de contrataci\u00f3n para armar tres nuevos equipos digitales en b\u00fasqueda de dominaci\u00f3n de los datos.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.defenseone.com\/media\/img\/upload\/2017\/12\/11\/120817recruitmentNG\/defense-large.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"391\" height=\"179\" \/>Attention Silicon Valley<\/strong>, Boston, Austin and other tech hubs across the country: One of the 17\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">U.S.<\/span>\u00a0intelligence agencies wants your best and brightest tech talent, and it\u2019s making a game-changing strategic play to get\u00a0them.<\/p>\n<p>The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, responsible for gathering and disseminating geospatial data for national security, disaster response and combat support, is setting up shop in San Francisco with the intent to hire hundreds of data scientists, architects, stewards, engineers, coders, designers and other\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">STEM<\/span>-laden\u00a0talent.<\/p>\n<p>The agency opened Outpost Silicon Valley, a new office in San Francisco, where it plans to host three brand new data teams. The agency\u2019s new Chief Data Scientist Andy Brooks will be responsible for filling out\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">NGA<\/span>\u2019s brand new Data Corps, one of three initiatives the agency unveiled to\u00a0<em>Nextgov<\/em>\u00a0as part of its broader strategy to bring best practices and talent from the tech industry to the intelligence\u00a0community.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nextgov.com\/feature\/limitless-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0<em>Nextgov<\/em>\u00a0event<\/a>\u00a0in Los Angeles Wednesday, Brooks said\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">NGA<\/span>\u2019s intent is to hire dozens of data scientists and analysts through the Data Corps to augment\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">NGA<\/span>\u2019s existing talent \u201cto solve the big data problems within the agency.\u201d Those problems, Brooks said, are the kind that end\u00a0up in presidential daily briefings or save lives during disasters or military\u00a0conflicts.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"caps\">NGA<\/span>\u2019s Data-Enabled Workforce strategy also creates two additional hiring initiatives: a Developer Corps and an Explorer Program. Through the Developer Corps,\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">NGA<\/span>\u00a0intends to hire several hundred full-time software engineers, developers and coders for its own in-house software development team, according to Associate Director for Capabilities Anthony Vinci, who supplied the vision for\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">NGA<\/span>\u2019s bold new tech\u00a0strategy.<\/p>\n<p>While the\u00a0Data and Developer corps will turn techies into full-time federal employees working on classified problems, the Explorer program seeks technically skilled individuals for short-term tours of duty, building off a model employed by Obama-era tech initiatives 18F and the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">U.S.<\/span>\u00a0Digital Service.\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">NGA<\/span>\u00a0wants as many as 50 \u201cexplorers\u201d who could be brought within\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">NGA<\/span>\u2019s fold for one- to three-year terms. Provided they\u2019ve passed an initial security vetting, Brooks said some explorers working on open, unclassified\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">NGA<\/span>\u00a0problems, could do so\u00a0remotely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty radical to think people are working in uncleared projects where they are situated and located, but it\u2019s the realization of the talent we need,\u201d Brooks said. \u201cWe\u2019ve got to meet them where they are. You\u2019ll get to work on some crazy, high-stakes decisions and amazing projects. You\u2019ll have an interesting story to tell.
