{"id":2839,"date":"2018-04-04T08:59:41","date_gmt":"2018-04-04T11:59:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nachodelatorre.com.ar\/mosconi\/?p=2839"},"modified":"2018-04-04T08:59:41","modified_gmt":"2018-04-04T11:59:41","slug":"arma-antitanque-m-72-la-vigencia-de-un-clasico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/?p=2839","title":{"rendered":"Arma antitanque M 72: La vigencia de un cl\u00e1sico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><u><\/u>El reconocido sistema de arma port\u00e1til antitanque de corto alcance M72, con m\u00e1s de 50 a\u00f1os de empleo en diferentes ej\u00e9rcitos del mundo, ha sido revalorizado gracias al\u00a0proyecto de modernizaci\u00f3n llevado a cabo por su fabricante, la empresa Noruega NAMMO.\u00a0El agregado de un novedoso sistema de espoleta de doble efecto, la reducci\u00f3n\u00a0 del rebufo que permite su disparo desde lugares confinados y con menor exposici\u00f3n del tirador, mayor precisi\u00f3n\u00a0 y alcance, han motivado que el US MARINES lleve adelante severos ensayos para la incorporaci\u00f3n de \u00e9sta versi\u00f3n mejorada, especialmente apta para el combate actual contra elementos irregulares.<!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/resizer\/NlWPOryWsnXvuuGIB9kgVrMbcYU=\/1200x0\/filters:quality(100)\/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-mco.s3.amazonaws.com\/public\/GTFB5KDPLRBSDN2R7KPLYBPOQA.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"394\" height=\"229\" \/>The Corps may soon field a new version of its disposable anti-tank rocket known as the\u00a0<a class=\"selected-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2016\/04\/10\/marines-new-virtual-marksmanship-trainers-are-set-to-hit-the-fleet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">M-72<\/a>, a weapon system that has seen service with the Marines since the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">Manufactured by Norwegian company<a class=\"\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/global\/europe\/2017\/11\/13\/norwegian-arms-exports-may-end-for-saudi-coalition-fighting-in-yemen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0NAMMO<\/a>, the 66 mm anti-tank rocket \u2014 also known as the<a class=\"\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/flashpoints\/2017\/08\/18\/us-iraqi-forces-ready-for-next-battle-against-isis-extremists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0M-72 light assault weapon<\/a>, or LAW \u2014 is headed for another upgrade that may see use by Marines extended onto future battlefields.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">Some of the upgrades include deadlier dual fuze rounds, forward-facing firing triggers that will aid in stabilization, and no backblast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s a game changer,\u201d said Lance Cpl. Sam Elichalt, a squad leader with second platoon, Kilo Company.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">Marines with Kilo Company 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment tested the new rockets last week during a futuristic urban warfare training exercise known as Urban-ANTX 18 held aboard Camp Pendleton, California.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">And the Corps is serious about fielding the new rocket, according to officials with NAMMO.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">The Corps has acquired about 500 rockets for Joint Ordnance Test Procedure trials scheduled later this year. If the M-72 makes it through testing it will be certified for use with all branches, NAMMO officials told Marine Corps Times.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">It would be a new lease on life for a rocket that has seen service in the U.S. arsenal for nearly 50 years. The Corps had already prolonged the life of the M-72 in 2008 when it\u00a0<a class=\"\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fbo.gov\/index?tab=core&amp;s=opportunity&amp;mode=form&amp;id=6aea0552c87c7c9afb20167e1b193acc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sought upgrades to the launcher<\/a>\u00a0to extend the firing range for service in Iraq and Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/resizer\/pMouSsuYVxApqLaaN4A6ipKsHSo=\/600x0\/filters:quality(100)\/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-mco.s3.amazonaws.com\/public\/3FDKARHUNVCHDD447DRCR6E7ME.jpg\" alt=\"Marines with 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment fire an AT-4 anti-tank weapon during a live-fire rocket range aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, May 5, 2015. Kirstin Merrimarahajara\/Marine Corps)\" width=\"388\" height=\"218\" \/>Because the new upgrade has no backblast Marines no longer have to worry about overpressurization when firing from inside a building or a room.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"pb-ad-container\">That reduces the chance of injury and now Marines can fire the rockets without \u201chaving to expose themselves\u201d to enemy fire, Elichalt said.<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">Backblast occurs when pressure builds inside the chamber of the launch tube after a rocket is fired. The gases that create that pressure rupture out the back end of the launcher.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">For the shoulder fired AT-4 \u2014 manufactured by Swedish company Saab Bofors Dynamics \u2014 a backblast area can extend nearly 300 feet. Marines are advised not to fire from inside buildings, but the new M-72 design changes all of this.<\/p>\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">The new LAW relies on mortar increments in lieu of a rocket motor. Mortar increments are small half donut shaped propellants for 60, 8 and 120 mm mortars.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">Though the new M-72 has no gaseous rupture when fired, it does squirt out a liquid.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">But the new changes do come with one substantial cost: added weight. The new anti-tank rocket launcher weighs nearly 12.9\u00a0<span class=\"js-paste-start-CVYRQ27LVFEKXAYMDVXZHRTSMU\">pounds<span class=\"js-paste-end-CVYRQ27LVFEKXAYMDVXZHRTSMU\">\u00a0compared to 7-10 pounds for the older model.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">And that\u2019s not small potatoes either when considering a fully kitted grunt can be carrying nearly 100\u00a0<span class=\"js-paste-start-TR7AQWEARZFBXE6ZOX3FMZXUGQ\">pounds<span class=\"js-paste-end-TR7AQWEARZFBXE6ZOX3FMZXUGQ\">\u00a0of gear.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">But Marines with Kilo company say the added weight brings extra lethality and is worth the physical toll.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">The new M-72 also is 12 decibels quieter, has less flash than a pistol and will come with more lethal rockets.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-print-12\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">One of the new rockets, known as the A10 round, will be dual fuze.
