Es que si los veh\u00edculos aut\u00f3nomos hacen la tarea de exploraci\u00f3n y reconocimiento previo, e incluso el combate en sus fases iniciales, seguramente los blindados podr\u00e1n ser m\u00e1s livianos y m\u00f3viles en el futuro. Rusia ya ha comenzado a ensayarlos en la guerra de Siria.<!--more--><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/nationalinterest.org\/files\/styles\/main_image_on_posts\/public\/main_images\/gbrtbherere.jpg?itok=_YRZeDfr\" alt=\"\" width=\"399\" height=\"246\" \/>\u201cAs the armored BCT fields new systems, it will replace main battle tanks, howitzers, and mortar indirect fire platforms. Far-term initiatives aim to solve the absence of the armored BCT\u2019s ability to deploy rapidly. The Army assesses the feasibility and application of autonomous or semi-autonomous sub-systems, manned and unmanned teaming, and autonomy enabled combat platforms,\u201d the Army documents read.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>CERDEC and other Army entities are working on these projects with the Army\u2019s Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center to prototype, test and advance these technologies. The current effort is an extension, or next-generation iteration, of a previous TARDEC effort described as \u201cleader-follower\u201d algorithms. This technology, evolved and successfully tested in recent years, enables an unmanned tactical truck or vehicle to precisely follow a manned vehicle in front of it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"ld-7032-4043\" class=\"adslot\" data-ref=\"lockerdome_intext_ad\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/125788767\/undefined_0__container__\"><iframe id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/125788767\/undefined_0\" title=\"3rd party ad content\" name=\"google_ads_iframe_\/125788767\/undefined_0\" width=\"817\" height=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The concept with \u201cleader-follower\u201d algorithms is to free up vehicle crew members such that they can focus on other pressing, threat-conscious tasks without needing to expend all their energy navigating the vehicle. These newer kits, however, bring the concept of autonomy to an entirely new level, enabling unmanned systems to maneuver quickly in response to fast-changing ground combat circumstances \u2013 without needing human intervention.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>The current \u201cautonomy kits\u201d effort is a new Army program, slated to gain traction and begin testing this year, Army developers said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cTARDEC will decide which platforms are used. Some sort of tank is being evaluated, as well as smaller platforms,\u201d David explained.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>David explained that the autonomy kits are now being worked on for the Army\u2019s Next-Generation Combat Vehicle program \u2013 a future combat vehicle effort planning to engineer new platforms for the 2030s and beyond.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cWe are closely tied with them (NGCV program) and we are looking to see how we can insert this kit onto these future platforms,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>The kits are also being engineered to help ensure that combat vehicles can continue to function in the event that GPS communications are jammed or destroyed by enemy forces.
