<\/u>Continuando con el debate y las acciones legales relacionadas con la producci\u00f3n de componentes de armas empleando fabricaci\u00f3n aditiva (3D printing) por parte ciudadanos, el Congreso de EUA ha presentado un proyecto denominado \u20183D\u00a0Firearms\u00a0Prohibition Act\u2019<\/em>\u00a0, que proh\u00edbe la venta, compra y distribuci\u00f3n de informaci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica relacionada con este mercado potencial, de enorme riesgo para la seguridad, que permitir\u00eda la difusi\u00f3n indiscriminada de armas de fuego en poder de particulares, sin el debido control estatal.<\/p>\n

\"3dFollowing the debate and legal actions surrounding 3D\u00a0Firearms\u00a0printing this summer a new bill has been introduced to Congress attempting to ban the sale, purchase and distribution of 3D printed\u00a0firearms\u00a0partsand to require\u00a0homemade\u00a0firearms\u00a0to have serial numbers.<\/p>\n

Back in August a ruling from the\u00a0Justice Department clarified and essential \u2018legalised 3D gun printingfollowing a campaign against censorship of information led by\u00a0Defense\u00a0Distributed and the Second Amendment Foundation. This ruling quickly led to backlash and state and\u00a0federal\u00a0moves by representatives and\u00a0federal\u00a0judges\u00a0to block the proliferation of\u00a03D printed gun plans. Since then Cody\u00a0Wilson,\u00a0Defense\u00a0Distributed\u2019s founder, has been arrested and\u00a0charged for having\u00a0sex with an underage girl\u00a0in Texas.<\/p>\n

New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone, has now introduced fresh legislation to the House of Representatives.\u00a0H.R. 7115, known as the \u20183D\u00a0Firearms\u00a0Prohibition Act\u2019 was introduced in early November and is waiting to move to the committee stage with the\u00a0Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Committee on the Judiciary.<\/p>\n

Congressman Pallone\u2019s bill,\u00a0the \u20183D\u00a0Firearms\u00a0Prohibition Act\u2019, seeks to:<\/p>\n

prohibit the sale, acquisition, distribution in commerce, or import into the United States of certain\u00a0firearm\u00a0receiver\u00a0castings or blanks,\u00a0assault\u00a0weapon\u00a0parts\u00a0kits, and\u00a0machinegun\u00a0parts\u00a0kits\u00a0and the marketing or advertising of such castings or blanks and\u00a0kits\u00a0on any medium of electronic communications, to require homemade\u00a0firearms\u00a0to have serial numbers, and for other purposes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The bill also seeks to make changes in the language of current\u00a0federal\u00a0firearms\u00a0regulations to ensure that even\u00a0non-3D\u00a0printed homemade\u00a0firearms\u00a0\u201chave a permanent unique serial number from a licensed dealer\u201d and are reported to the ATF. The bill would also introduce the requirement of a background check for those looking to make\u00a0firearms\u00a0at home.<\/p>\n

In a press release announcing the launch of the\u00a0Bill back\u00a0in November, Pallone said:<\/p>\n

Given the\u00a0gun\u00a0violence epidemic plaguing our communities, the last thing our country needs is an unregulated and untraceable source of lethal\u00a0firearms. We need sensible solutions to reduce\u00a0gun\u00a0violence, not\u00a0AR-15s\u00a0available at the stroke of a fingertip.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The \u20183D\u00a0Firearms\u00a0Prohibition Act\u2019 has not yet been co-sponsored by other representatives.<\/p>\n
