Es que el nuevo concepto de \u201cCross \u2013 Domain Capabilities\u201d, obliga a las distintas Fuerzas a incorporar nuevas capacidades, tales como los Fuegos de Largo Alcance de Nivel Estrat\u00e9gico, que el US Army obtendr\u00eda al disponer de misiles Hipers\u00f3nicos.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>LANPAC HONOLULU: Earliest this week, Army leaders approved a detailed plan to get\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2019\/05\/army-will-cull-hypersonic-laser-weapons-portfolios-jette-murray\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">high-powered microwave and laser weapons<\/a>\u00a0into the hands of soldiers, advancing rapidly in parallel to development of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2019\/03\/hypersonics-wont-repeat-mistakes-of-f-35\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hypersonic missiles<\/a>, Lt. Gen. Neil Thurgood said here. But, he warned the AUSA conference here,\u00a0directed energy is \u201cnot the panacea of all things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.breakingmedia.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/05\/8E08B9D9-AACC-4686-A0E6-38505AD2992B.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" data-featherlight=\"image\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-61034\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.breakingmedia.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/05\/8E08B9D9-AACC-4686-A0E6-38505AD2992B-300x251.jpeg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.breakingmedia.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/05\/8E08B9D9-AACC-4686-A0E6-38505AD2992B-300x251.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/sites.breakingmedia.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/05\/8E08B9D9-AACC-4686-A0E6-38505AD2992B.jpeg 519w\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"251\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cClearly, we can accelerate directed energy into our formations,\u201d said Thurgood, who as head\u00a0of the service\u2019s recently reorganized and beefed-up Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO, manages the service\u2019s most high-tech, high-priority programs: directed energy, space, and hypersonics. The Army\u2019s especially interested in taking out incoming rockets, artillery, mortar rounds, and small drones with electrically-powered weapons that cost pennies per shot instead of expensive one-use interceptors. But lasers and microwaves have real limits.<\/p>\n<p>For example, they don\u2019t work well against swarms, where lots of small targets are converging on you at once. \u201dYou want to kill a swarm of things \u2014 whatever that thing is \u2014 lasers are not really a swarm-killing tool. They can kill things fast but they can\u2019t kill a swarm of things fast enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That said, he continued with a chuckle, \u201cif you\u2019re in my world, I\u2019m always thinking about Private Thurgood.
