Se encontraran\u00a0dentro de Compa\u00f1\u00edas de Inteligencia militar.\u00a0La\u00a02da Divisi\u00f3n de Infanter\u00eda en Fort Lewis en Washington, fue designada como la unidad piloto para estos nuevos pelotones de EW.<!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/resizer\/PIMWDkwdvdkoFv9Ec_BboDyydkc=\/1200x0\/filters:quality(100)\/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-mco.s3.amazonaws.com\/public\/RJMS3BUGEJFFVKF653XK6T6LBQ.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"459\" height=\"240\" \/>The Army could start fielding its new electronic warfare platoons in spring 2020, a top service official said Aug. 21.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">These platoons are part of major force updates the service is undertaking in order to better compete with nations such as Russia and China. They will reside within military intelligence companies and serve as brigade assets.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">\u201cWe do not have any organic electronic attack capabilities across echelons in the Army,\u201d David May, director of the capability development integration directorate at the Cyber Center of Excellence, said Aug. 21 at TechNet Augusta.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">As\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/electronic-warfare\/2019\/03\/12\/how-the-army-is-getting-its-ew-kit-right-for-future-battlefields\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">previously reported<\/a>, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division out at Fort Lewis in Washington was designated as the pilot unit for these new EW platoons.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">Since then, this brigade has participated in a series of live environment tests, May told C4ISRNET, including the Joint Warfighter Assessment. The unit will also go to the National Training Center for a full rotation, allowing soldiers and electronic warfare personnel to practice against a world class force as well as participate in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/dod\/army\/2018\/10\/22\/how-the-army-is-improving-tactical-cyber-operations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cyber Blitz<\/a>\u00a0in September.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">In addition, the Cyber Center of Excellence will supplement these live experiments and demonstrations with modeling and simulation at its battle lab.<\/p>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">These activities are expected to run until November, May said, when the Army will analyze its data and send a formal requirement for the unit to Army headquarters in April 2020. Provided the Army accepts the requirement, they can begin establishing these units across the force.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">The experimentation has also allowed the Army to test new capabilities, serving as a proving ground of sorts for risk reduction on current programs of record, namely, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/electronic-warfare\/2019\/02\/21\/heres-what-the-army-is-looking-for-in-its-new-ew-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Terrestrial Layer System (TLS)<\/a>. It also allows the Army to experiment with new concepts.<\/p>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">\u201cWe took a unit. We gave them some EW personnel. We took some pre-prototyped kit. We brought them out to the field and we said \u2018We want you to play with it. Let\u2019s try some different formations. Let\u2019s try some different ways to do connectivity and geolocation. Let\u2019s see what works, what doesn\u2019t work,\u2019\u201d May said. \u201cAll those lessons learned are going into validating the concept of operations and helping us drive the material requirement so that when we do come out and ask industry to produce something we\u2019ve got a 90 percent solution.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">Currently, TLS is spread across several programs for varying sizes of capabilities. May explained this includes TLS extended range, which will be a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/electronic-warfare\/2019\/05\/02\/the-army-wants-help-with-extended-range-electronic-warfare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">division and corps asse<\/a>t, TLS large, which will be a brigade asset mounted on a large vehicle like a Stryker, TLS small, which will likely remain vehicle mounted but a smaller form factor, and TLS dismount.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\" mco-body-item mco-body-type-text\">\n<p class=\"element element-paragraph\">TLS large will be the first to be developed and fielded. May had previously said TLS is set to field in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/electronic-warfare\/2019\/06\/17\/whats-the-best-way-for-the-army-to-demonstrate-force-via-electronic-warfare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2022 or 2023 timeframe<\/a>.
