El Ej\u00e9rcito de Estrados Unidos,\u00a0<\/span>como lo hizo la Fuerza A\u00e9rea de ese pa\u00eds buscando la modernizaci\u00f3n y la optimizaci\u00f3n de sus recursos<\/span>\u00a0est\u00e1 experimentando con\u00a0<\/span>EITaaS<\/span>\u00a0(E<\/span>nterprise Information Technology-as-a-Service<\/span>).\u00a0<\/span>EITaaS proporcionar\u00e1 al Ej\u00e9rcito servicios inform\u00e1ticos comunes, hardware, software e infraestructura de red.\u00a0<\/span>Las adjudicaciones del contrato del pasado 26 de septiembre, suman aproximadamente $ 9.7 millones para Verizon Business Network Services, $ 5.6 millones para AT&T y $ 18.2 millones para Microsoft, en un plan piloto.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sept. 26 contract awards \u2014 approximately $9.7 million to Verizon Business Network Services, $5.6 million to AT&T and $18.2 million to Microsoft \u2014 caps off several months<\/a> of anticipation for the pilot awards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

EITaaS will provide the Army with \u201ccomputing, common IT services, hardware, software and networking infrastructure,\u201d according to the Army\u2019s presentation at the May 7 industry day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Army had three specific needs for the EITaaS: network-as-a-service, end-user services for end-user security and management, and compute and storage. The pilot effort asked industry to provide solutions because <\/b>\u201cthe Army would not optimize the network ourselves at the current network modernization strategy and funding levels,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Army is moving in the same direction as other services, like the Air Force<\/a>, in experimenting with EITaaS. EITaaS allows the services to outsource IT services to commercial companies in an effort to increase user efficiencies, effectiveness and and standardize IT services across the enterprise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems, Army Cyber Command and the Army CIO\/G6 all worked together in exploring EITaaS technology, according to a July 10 news release from the Army Contracting Command.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
