La raz\u00f3n es que disponer de la capacidad de transformar un proyectil convencional calibre 155mm, en un sofisticado proyectil con precisi\u00f3n del orden de los 10m, confiable y de bajo costo, proporciona a los comandos t\u00e1cticos de una capacidad de apoyo de fuego org\u00e1nica, antes s\u00f3lo disponible en los costosos sistemas misil\u00edsticos.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. \u2013<\/b> U.S. Army explosives experts are looking to Northrop Grumman Corp. to provide precision-guidance kits to transform conventional 155-millimeter artillery shells into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militaryaerospace.com\/sensors\/article\/14173279\/smart-munitions-artillery-gpsguided\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GPS-guided<\/a> smart munitions.<\/p>\n<p>Officials of the Army Contracting Command at Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., announced a $32.2 million order Monday to The Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems segment (formerly Orbital ATK) in Plymouth, Minn., for M1156 precision guidance kits for the Army.<\/p>\n<p>Northrop Grumman\u2019s precision guidance kit (PGK) transforms existing 155-millimeter high-explosive artillery projectiles into affordable satellite-guided precision weapons.<\/p>\n<p>The PGK uses signals from the Global Positioning System (GPS) to guide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militaryaerospace.com\/rf-analog\/article\/16726528\/army-makes-big-order-for-excalibur-satelliteguided-smart-munitions-artillery-rounds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">artillery shells<\/a> to their targets with accuracy of less than 10 meters.<\/p>\n<p>The low-cost reliable, fuze-sized guidance kit installs in the artillery shell&#8217;s fuze well and also provides traditional fuze functions for height-of-burst and point detonation, Northrop Grumman officials say.<\/p>\n<p>PGK provides maneuver forces with an organic precision capability that works in all weather conditions, and fills a gap between conventional artillery and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militaryaerospace.com\/sensors\/article\/14172966\/satelliteguided-smart-munitions-artillery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">smart munitions<\/a> capabilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fuente:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militaryaerospace.com\/sensors\/article\/14173557\/smart-munitions-artillery-shells-gpsguided?utm_source=MAE+Embedded&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=CPS200409051&amp;o_eid=0763J9111945F9E&amp;rdx.ident%5Bpull%5D=omeda%7C0763J9111945F9E&amp;oly_enc_id=0763J9111945F9E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>https:\/\/www.militaryaerospace.com<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Los kits de guiado GPS para proyectiles de artiller\u00eda, constituyen uno de los desarrollos tecnol\u00f3gicos m\u00e1s difundidos de los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os.
