El mismo equipara al revolucionario Next Generation Squad Weapon, reemplazo y unificaci\u00f3n en un solo arma del fusil de asalto (M4) y la ametralladora de apoyo (M249).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>L3Harris Technologies, teamed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guns.com\/Leupold?author=eger_NGSW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leupold &amp; Stevens<\/a>, have garnered a multi-million dollar prototype optic agreement that could replace the Army\u2019s direct-view small arms optics.<\/p>\n<p>While the information was slim on the specifics of the optic system, L3Harris announced on April 22 they would provide 115 production prototypes for the Next Generation Squad Weapon Fire Control (NGSW-FC) targeting solution. According to the company, the device provides both ballistic computation and environmental sensors to cut the time needed to engage a threat.<\/p>\n<p>The systems aim to be used on the planned NGSW, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guns.com\/news\/2019\/10\/16\/new-army-m4-m249-replacement-contenders-make-a-splash\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">innovative 6.8mm-chambered firearm platform<\/a> intended to replace the 5.56 NATO M4 Carbine and M249 Squad Automatic Weapon in front-line service with the Army in coming years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cL3Harris is proud to offer the U.S. Army a revolutionary fire control solution that will increase soldier lethality and enhance situational awareness,\u201d said Lynn Bollengier, President, Integrated Vision Solutions, L3Harris. \u201cOur solution leverages nearly 30 years of expertise in fire control technology, enabling faster identification and target acquisition, ensuring soldiers achieve overmatch capability on the battlefield.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company, a giant publicly-traded defense contractor that owns EOTech among other subsidiaries, has partnered with Oregon-based Leupold to use the latter\u2019s optical assemblies and \u201chigh volume, domestic manufacturing capabilities,\u201d as part of the project. Notably, Leupold recently won a contract from the Army to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guns.com\/news\/2020\/03\/09\/leupold-mark-5hd-gets-army-approval-as-precision-sniper-rifle-glass\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">provide a version of their Mark 5HD 5-25\u00d756 scope<\/a> for the service\u2019s new Precision Sniper Rifle (PSR) program, separate from the NGSW initiative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeupold is excited to be teaming with L3Harris to deliver the highest-quality optical solution to the U.S. Army.
