{"id":6366,"date":"2020-08-18T21:04:46","date_gmt":"2020-08-19T00:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nachodelatorre.com.ar\/mosconi\/?p=6366"},"modified":"2020-08-18T21:04:46","modified_gmt":"2020-08-19T00:04:46","slug":"misil-hellfire-r9x-solo-energia-cinetica-y-precision-para-batir-blancos-con-menos-danos-colaterales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/?p=6366","title":{"rendered":"Misil Hellfire R9X: Solo energ\u00eda cin\u00e9tica y precisi\u00f3n para batir blancos con menos da\u00f1os colaterales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Un nuevo empleo del novedoso Misil Hellfire R9X ha sido reportado en Siria para la neutralizaci\u00f3n de blancos puntuales, en el marco de operaciones en zonas altamente pobladas, donde este revolucionario misil de corto alcance y peque\u00f1o tama\u00f1o, es capaz de batir objetivos solo por el efecto de la energ\u00eda cin\u00e9tica del impacto y su gran precisi\u00f3n, reduciendo as\u00ed los da\u00f1os colaterales sobre la poblaci\u00f3n civil.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The U.S.-led military coalition in Syria likely used a unique variant of the beloved Hellfire missile to kill a mercenary trainer who recently worked with an al Qaeda-affiliated militant group there, according to photos from the scene of the strike.<\/p>\n<p>The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IntelTweet\/status\/1293947746018353152\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.syriahr.com\/en\/179597\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">last week<\/a> that a drone strike likely affiliated with the U.S.-led international military coalition in the country was responsible for killing\u00a0Abu Yahya al-Uzbeki, an independent &#8220;military trainer&#8221; recently affiliated with the al Qaeda-linked Hurras Al-Din organization, while he was traveling in Syria&#8217;s Idlib province.<\/p>\n<p>Photos of the aftermath of the strike on\u00a0al-Uzbeki&#8217;s vehicle show a relatively intact car rather than a fiery wreck, suggesting that, as with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/taskandpurpose.com\/military-tech\/r9x-hellfire-missile-al-qaeda-syria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">similar strikes<\/a>\u00a0in the region, the coalition employed the notorious\u00a0R9X variant of the AGM-114 Hellfire missile,\u00a0a non-explosive weapon that can best be described as a 100-pound flying switchblade.<\/p>\n<p>First <a href=\"https:\/\/taskandpurpose.com\/military-tech\/cia-r9x-hellfire-missile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">publicized<\/a> by the Wall Street Journal in 2019 and colloquially known as the &#8220;flying Ginsu&#8221; or &#8220;ninja bomb,&#8221; the R9X forgoes an explosive payload in favor of a kinetic warhead containing a halo of blades that deploy moments before impact, eviscerating a target and, ostensibly, reducing the potential civilian casualties that might otherwise accompany a large explosion from a traditional warhead.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6368\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6368\" style=\"width: 837px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6368\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/cohete.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"837\" height=\"583\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/cohete.jpg 837w, https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/cohete-300x209.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/cohete-768x535.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 837px) 100vw, 837px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6368\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The R9X Hellfire<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Developed in a collaboration between the Defense Department and Central Intelligence Agency, the R9X Hellfire variant technically a secret. However, the distinctive effects of the munition have become increasingly recognizable since the U.S. government reportedly started deploying it downrange in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed,\u00a0the impact patterns on al-Uzbeki&#8217;s vehicle appear to match those on the car belonging to Qassam al-Urduni and Bilal al-Sanaani, two leaders of Hurras Al-Din who <a href=\"https:\/\/taskandpurpose.com\/military-tech\/r9x-hellfire-missile-al-qaeda-syria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">were killed in a similar drone strike in June<\/a>\u00a0of this year in northwestern Syria.<\/p>\n<p>That same pattern also appeared on the vehicles of\u00a0Abu Ahmed al-Jaziri, a foreign fighter for al Qaeda offshoot Hayat Tahrir al-Sham who was <a href=\"https:\/\/taskandpurpose.com\/military-tech\/r9x-hellfire-missile-syria-strike-terrorist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">killed in a drone strike<\/a> in December 2019, and\u00a0Ahmad Hasan Abu Khayr al-Masri, the al Qaeda second-in-command who, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/secret-u-s-missile-aims-to-kill-only-terrorists-not-nearby-civilians-11557403411\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to the Wall Street Journal, the CIA allegedly killed in in February 2017.<\/p>\n<p>While all three of those strikes, like the\u00a0al-Uzbeki one,\u00a0took place\u00a0in Syria&#8217;s Idlib province, the weapon has also been deployed in Yemen in recent years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/secret-u-s-missile-aims-to-kill-only-terrorists-not-nearby-civilians-11557403411\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to the Wall Street Journal.
