23 Nov. 2020 —<\/b> Soldiers and Marines ran the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) through a company-sized 72-hour training mission at Fort Pickett, Va., at the end of October.<\/p>\n
IVAS consists of a heads-up display to enable warfighters to experience augmented reality<\/a> to enhance mobility and situational awareness and will enable soldiers to train in simulated environments with the same equipment they use to fight.<\/p>\n The exercise included one of the more difficult dismounted operations \u2014 a nighttime trench-clearing exercise. To make that challenging movement more realistic, soldiers weren\u2019t limited to the IVAS goggle for targeting, night vision, thermal sights, and navigation capabilities. They also had micro-drones that they could launch and view through the goggle, conducting their own short-range reconnaissance<\/a> of an obstacle before taking on the opposing force.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
