{"id":8955,"date":"2021-11-15T10:23:23","date_gmt":"2021-11-15T13:23:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/?p=8955"},"modified":"2021-11-15T10:23:23","modified_gmt":"2021-11-15T13:23:23","slug":"el-ejercito-de-eua-podria-probar-el-nuevo-proyectil-ramjet-calibre-155mm-el-proximo-ano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/?p=8955","title":{"rendered":"El Ej\u00e9rcito de EUA podr\u00eda probar el nuevo proyectil Ramjet calibre 155mm el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>El Ramjet 155, que Boeing est\u00e1 desarrollando conjuntamente con BAE Systems y la compa\u00f1\u00eda de municiones noruega Nammo, est\u00e1 progresando en el desarrollo y estar\u00e1 listo para su primer lanzamiento desde un ca\u00f1\u00f3n L39 el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o, dijo Dan Palmeter, l\u00edder del equipo de Boeing para el proyecto.\u00a0Boeing espera que el Ramjet 155 vuele a unos 250 metros por segundo &#8220;en base al tiempo de vuelo proyectado hasta un objetivo&#8221; y con un alcance a distancias superiores a los 70 kil\u00f3metros.<u><\/u><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>WASHINGTON: A Boeing-led team will demonstrate a new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2021\/05\/ramjet-shells-could-triple-artillery-range\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">high-speed air-breathing projectile<\/a>\u00a0for the Army as soon as next summer, a company official said last week.<\/p>\n<p>The Ramjet 155 \u2014 which Boeing is co-developing with BAE Systems and Norwegian munitions company Nammo \u2014 is progressing through development and will be ready for its first launch from an L39 cannon next year, said Dan Palmeter, Boeing\u2019s capture team lead for the project.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E5WrYGeCENQ\" width=\"735\" height=\"406\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Boeing expects that the Ramjet 155 will travel some 250 meters per second \u201cbased on projected time of flight to a target,\u201d a spokesperson said, and to distances in excess of 70 kilometers, about double the 40 km range of the XM1113 Rocket Assisted Projectile when fired from a M109 Paladin howitzer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt kind of changes the battlefield calculus and the target sets which artillery can engage,\u201d Palmeter said. \u201cSo that means the artillery can be placed back farther, more out of the enemy\u2019s vision and reach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While rockets carry an oxidizer onboard to burn fuel,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2020\/04\/dod-norway-partner-on-ramjets-for-navy-hypersonic-missiles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a ramjet<\/a>\u00a0is \u201cair-breathing,\u201d meaning it digests the air surrounding it as it flies. Because it doesn\u2019t have to haul the extra weight of an oxidizer, it is able to fly for longer ranges \u2014 and also comes with unique flight characteristics that make it more survivable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe current projectiles the Army have, once they hit their high point, they just coast along ballistic arcs, and they actually slow down as they\u2019re approaching the target,\u201d Palmeter said. \u201cA ramjet is the exact opposite. The farther it flies, the faster it flies, because it\u2019s scooping up more oxygen, and that also helps you to avoid detection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Boeing was awarded a contract to mature the Ramjet 155 as part of the Army\u2019s Extended Range Artillery Munitions Suite program, receiving a phase 1 award in July 2019 and a phase 2 award in May 2020.
