El desarrollo de sistemas de propulsi\u00f3n Hipers\u00f3nicos (Que permitan a las plataformas alcanzar velocidades superiores a MACH 5), contin\u00faa avanzando aceleradamente. M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los programas espec\u00edficos de Misiles Hipers\u00f3nicos, el empleo de estas tecnolog\u00edas en Aeronaves, tanto tripuladas como aut\u00f3nomas, es un objetivo deseado. La compa\u00f1\u00eda estadounidense HERMEUS, ha presentado su prototipo de aeronave, el “Quarterhorse”, en el marco de un programa que implica la entrega de 3 aeronaves en los pr\u00f3ximos 3 a\u00f1os, a su principal cliente la US Air Force.<\/p>\n

We brought together a diverse group of investors, industry leaders, military and government officials, researchers, and local civic associations \u2013 all the stakeholders who can make hypersonic flight a reality.<\/p>\n

This included some special guest speakers, legendary entrepreneur and investor Vinod Khosla and Brigadier General Jason Lindsey.<\/p>\n

\u201cLess than three years ago, this felt almost impossible. And it\u2019s gone from almost impossible, to possible, to probable today, and hopefully soon, real flight,\u201d said Khosla.<\/p>\n

A major emphasis of the night was to highlight progress being made on hardware development and integration.<\/p>\n

To the surprise of the crowd, we didn\u2019t just unveil an aircraft prototype, but delivered an experience atypical of aerospace unveils by firing the aircraft\u2019s engine at maximum afterburner throttle.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen an aerospace company typically unveils a new aircraft it\u2019s nothing more than Styrofoam and fiberglass,\u201d said Skyler Shuford, Hermeus COO. \u201cBut at Hermeus, we drive to integrated products. And we really, really like to make fire.\u201d<\/p>\n

While this Quarterhorse prototype was not designed to fly, it is much more than just a showpiece. Building this vehicle was an exercise in multidisciplinary design, manufacturing, and the integration of complete systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe designed, manufactured, and integrated the aircraft, from nothing but an outer shape, in four months,\u201d said Shuford.<\/p>\n
