El sistema denominado EREN, est\u00e1 especialmente destinado al combate en escenarios de guerra asim\u00e9trica, con el objetivo de atacar\u00a0 objetivos tales como lugares de almacenamiento de munici\u00f3n y explosivos en campa\u00f1a. El conflicto que Turqu\u00eda lleva adelante contra los separatistas Kurdos en la frontera con Siria desde 1984, presenta este tipo de escenarios de combate irregular, para el cual el EREN resulta una herramienta letal especialmente apta. Cabe destacar que desde 2010 varias compa\u00f1\u00edas estatales y privadas de Turqu\u00eda, desarrollan programas de DEW.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 jQOUvm body-paragraph body-paragraph\">ANKARA, Turkey \u2014 A public-private partnership in Turkey claims it has created the world\u2019s first drone armed with a laser weapon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 jQOUvm body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The Eren was on display at the Konya Science Festival on Dec. 9. However, neither Tubitak nor Asisguard would provide information about the system\u2019s technical data and specifications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 jQOUvm body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The drone was built by a partnership between Turkey\u2019s state-run scientific research institute Tubitak and the private company Asisguard. The development program was administered by the Criminal Department of Turkey\u2019s General Directorate of Security.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9143\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9143\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-9143 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/5B2GVFR5YVHHFJX4RBJK2KH2KY.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"676\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/5B2GVFR5YVHHFJX4RBJK2KH2KY.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/5B2GVFR5YVHHFJX4RBJK2KH2KY-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fie.undef.edu.ar\/ceptm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/5B2GVFR5YVHHFJX4RBJK2KH2KY-768x507.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9143\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Adam Berry\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 jQOUvm body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Aykut Eroglu, a senior police officer familiar with the program, told Turkey\u2019s state-run news agency Anadolu that Eren\u2019s laser weapon would primarily target enemies\u2019 military ammunition stockpiles and bombs in the field.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 jQOUvm body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cThis is the first of its kind worldwide,\u201d Eroglu had said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 jQOUvm body-paragraph body-paragraph\">The Eren recently passed firing tests, during which it used its laser for 90 seconds at a distance of 500 meters, 30 seconds at 300 meters and 10 seconds at 100 meters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 jQOUvm body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Asisguard is considered an up and coming drone specialist in the country. The company previously\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/opinion\/commentary\/2021\/05\/25\/weapons-of-the-future-trends-in-drone-proliferation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">developed the Songar<\/a>, which received upgrades in February. As part of the upgrade program, the small Turkish defesne firm Akda\u015f installed a 40mm grenade launcher to the Songar. The upgraded Songar is armed with the AK40-GL system and has a firing range of 400 meters. The drone successfully passed acceptance tests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 jQOUvm body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Several state-controlled and private Turkish companies have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/industry\/techwatch\/2021\/03\/15\/turkey-eyes-directed-energy-weapons-as-key-priority\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">worked on directed-energy technology<\/a>\u00a0since 2010. Ozgur Eksi, an Ankara-based defense analyst, told Defense News earlier this year that from an operational point of view, directed-energy weapons are meant to increase fire power, serve as a deterrent, and complement armed and unarmed drone warfare development.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 jQOUvm body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cDrone warfare architecture may be the most critical operational use, especially for asymmetrical warfare inside Turkey or in cross-border operations [in Syria and Iraq],\u201d Eksi said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 jQOUvm body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Turkey has been fighting Kurdish insurgents since 1984 \u2014 a conflict that has seen tens of thousands of people die, including civilians.
