Saab<\/a>.<\/p>\n\u201cThe user, whether a military force or a rescue unit, can deploy in a remote area like the middle of the desert, and within minutes set up the communication system and even link up with other outfits using the DeployNet system and establish an area coverage,\u201d Kallstrand told Breaking Defense during UMEX.<\/p>\n
\u201cDeployNet provides a scalable 5G\/LTE wireless network for the most challenging environments, offering high-capacity bandwidth for today\u2019s missions that rely on a multitude of information sources, sensors and user interaction,\u201d said a company press release. \u201cThe compact system, underpinned with robust cyber security, can be deployed rapidly, enabling high-capacity bandwidth in geographically remote areas, or reinforcement of damaged or limited local networks.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDeployNet can provide a network for up to 6,500 users simultaneously with a typical operation area of 100 squared kilometers per system,\u201d according to a company brochure. The system, which the company claims allows \u201creal-time video streaming in high resolution, push-to-talk functionality and data transfer,\u201d is designed to come as a ready-to-get setup, complete with handsets, power, and active telecom gear.<\/p>\n
Kallstrand pointed out that the DeployNet is designed to provide robust cyber security and maintain the integrity and safety of the information exchanged or transferred via the system.<\/p>\n
He said DeployNet is built in the UAE by a team that is part of the 145 Saab engineers and technicians based in the UAE and working on joint programs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Saab employees in the UAE are supporting three in-country projects, that include one on developing a sensor,\u201d said Kallstrand. He declined to give further details on the sensor project.<\/p>\n
The Saab in-country team also provides support services to a number of airborne early warning and command platforms (AEW&C). They include a Global Eye aircraft that was delivered in 2020 to the UAE Air Force. It is the first of three AEW&C platforms Saab sold the to the UAE in a 2015 contract. The Global Eye is made up of several Saab-developed sensors on board a Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft.<\/p>\n
The UAE Air Force also operates two Saab 340 aircraft with Erieye active-array radars that were procured in a contract signed in 2009.<\/p>\n
Kallstrand underlined the importance of the partnership Saab has with the UAE, which includes collaboration with several R&D establishments in the country, including Tawazun.<\/p>\n
