La subsidiaria \u00a0en USA de la empresa Alemana Heckler & Koch ha obtenido un contrato inicial de US$ 44,5 millones para la provisi\u00f3n del US Army’s Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System (CSASS), tal como fue anunciado \u00a0el 01 abr 16. Este nuevo sistema, desarrollado sobre la base del Fusil G28 de H&K, presenta una serie de importantes mejoras, tendientes a suplantar paulatinamente, al fusil actualmente en servicio, denominado M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS), Este tipo de arma es de dotaci\u00f3n de la menor fracci\u00f3n de infanter\u00eda, provey\u00e9ndose 1 (una) \u00a0por Grupo de tiradores (Squad), y es operada por un “tirador destacado” (Designated marksman).<\/p>\n

Los pa\u00edses m\u00e1s avanzados, contin\u00faan la b\u00fasqueda permanente de mejoras, a\u00fan sobre los sistemas b\u00e1sicos del combatiente individual. Desde el punto de vista operacional, inversiones relativamente reducudas (en t\u00e9rminos de sistemas de defensa), constituyen multiplicadores del poder de combate de las peque\u00f1as fracciones. <\/p>\n

Heckler & Koch has been awarded the US Army’s Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System (CSASS) with a potential USD44.5 million initial contract, according to a 1 April announcement.<\/p>\n

The German company’s US subsidiary bested seven other bids for the work, understood to be with its Heckler & Koch G28 (Gewehr-28) Designated Marksman Rifle, meant to supplement the army’s 7.62 mm M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS) fleet.<\/p>\n

Under the deal the army could order up to 3,643 CSASS units, after initial qualification and operational testing on 30 CSASS units.<\/p>\n

According to the programme’s February 2014 presolicitation notice, the army wanted enough CSASSs “to match the current M110 Army Acquisition Objective” of no more than 3,643.<\/p>\n

“The CSASS will more effectively execute a broad spectrum of missions” than the M110, that notice said. “The CSASS will provide the following upgrades: improved reliability, improved accuracy, and improved ergonomics; reduced weight and length; advanced coatings; improved optics; reduced felt recoil; enhanced suppressor performance; enhanced modular rail capabilities; an improved bipod, trigger, pistol grip, and butt-stock.”<\/p>\n

According to Jane’s Infantry Weapons<\/i> , the Heckler & Koch G28 is a development of the civilian MR308 competition rifle (also known as the Distinguished Match Rifle – DMR762). The G28 is in service with the German Bundeswehr.<\/p>\n
