El Ministerio de Defensa Checa anunció que ha seleccionado IAI / ELTA, como el ganador de la licitación para la Defensa Aérea Móvil del Ejército de la República Checa (ACR). El Ministerio de Defensa dijo que prepara un contrato con ELTA Systems antes del 23 de diciembre para el suministro de ocho Radares Multi Misión (MMR) ELM-2084, por valor de USD 112.3 millones y tiene la intención de firmar el contrato a mediados de 2017, con las entrega final de todos los sistemas a más tardar en el 2021.
The Czech Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 14 December that it had selected IAI Elta Systems as the winner of its tender for new 3D mobile air defence radar (MADR) for the Army of the Czech Republic (ACR).
The MoD said it will prepare a contract with Elta Systems before 23 December to supply eight ELM-2084 multimission radar (MMR) systems worth CZK2.9 billion (USD112.3 million) and intends to have the contract signed by mid-2017 with final deliveries of all systems to be supplied no later than 2021.
«The ACR will receive one of the most modern radar systems in existence that is in use with Israel Defense Forces (IDF) but also by other armed forces such as Canada,» Czech defence minister Martin Stropnicky told the media on 14 December.
«The announcement [of the selection of the ELM-2084 MMR] is also good news for the Czech defence industry since a significant portion of the production will take place in the Czech Republic and performed by a Czech company,» he said.
Czech defence electronics firm Retia, which is the indigenous partner of IAI Elta Systems, will produce 30% of the critical components of the ELM-2084 MMR.
The ELM-2084 MMR is deployed by the IDF and forms part of the Iron Dome anti-missile defence shield. The system will allow ACR air defence units to monitor, track, and intercept airborne targets at altitudes from 100-3,000 m.
«The modernisation of the (air defence) radar capability is essential for the ACR since Soviet-era radar systems currently in use are obsolete,» Chief of General Staff of the ACR Lieutenant General Josef Becvar told the media on 14 December. «New mobile 3D radar systems will greatly expand the capabilities of the ACR.»
An MoD selection committee chose Elta Systems based on 114 criteria over competing bids from Saab and Thales.
