El Gobierno de Polonia ha contratado a la compañía local WB Group para la provisión de 10.000 Loitering Munition (LM) para el Ejército de ese país. El sistema adquirido es el ‘Warmate”, una LM portátil operada por dos hombres y que también puede ser empleada en vehículos livianos. Propulsada por un motor eléctrico, con sus 6 kg de peso puede llevar pequeñas cargas explosivas y cabezas de guerra termobáricas. Tiene un alcance de 30 km, por lo que constituye una extraordinaria herramienta que otorga más poder de fuego a pequeñas fracciones.
Poland has contracted local defense company WB Group to supply 10,000 Warmate loitering munitions to the army.
The weapons will be built in their latest configuration, with deliveries of 1,000 at a time until 2035.
Upon arrival, the drones will be distributed as a standalone system for unmounted troops and a vehicle-launched capability for mobile operations.
Warsaw noted that the kamikaze drones will be used to identify and neutralize threats ranging from light armored targets to enemy infantry units.
The Warmate Loitering Munition
WB Group’s Warmate solution measures 1.1 meters (3.6 feet) in length and has a wingspan of 1.6 meters (5.2 feet).
It has a maximum takeoff weight of 6 kilograms (13 pounds) and can carry different types of warheads, such as standard and thermobaric bombs.
The drone is equipped with an electric motor for an operational ceiling of up to 300 meters (984 feet) and a speed of 150 kilometers (93 miles) per hour.
