Northrop Grumman ha presentado el PGK-E5, un kit de guiado de última generación diseñado para transformar proyectiles de artillería calibre 155 mm en municiones guiadas de alta precisión. Este dispositivo moderniza la versión actual M 1156, incorporando tecnología anti-interferencia (anti-jamming), lo que le permite operar con eficacia en ámbitos donde la señal GPS está degradada o bloqueada por acciones de guerra electrónica. Mantiene las mismas dimensiones, forma y modo de empleo que el modelo anterior, por lo que es compatible con las armas de artillería en servicio, no requiriendo modificaciones ni reentrenamiento de las tropas. Ofrece una precisión excepcional, con un rango de dispersión menor a 30 metros, lo que reduce drásticamente el consumo de munición, minimizando asimismo los daños colaterales. Se ha iniciado ya la producción de PGK-E5 y se prevé que las primeras entregas se realicen en 2028.
GPS jamming may no longer be enough to throw 155mm artillery off target, thanks to Northrop Grumman’s next-generation Precision Guidance Kit (PGK).
The PGK E5 upgrades the existing M1156 PGK with advanced anti-jam technology and improved guidance, fuzing, and control systems while retaining the original form factor.
It delivers first-round accuracy with a circular error probable of less than 30 meters (98 feet), helping reduce collateral damage while increasing the likelihood of hitting the target.
Designed for existing artillery systems and howitzers, the kit requires minimal equipment modifications or operator retraining, allowing units to field it more quickly.

The device also uses a NATO-standard deep-intrusion fuze to support compatibility across a range of platforms and 155mm projectiles.
During recent trials in GPS-degraded conditions, the PGK E5 reportedly exceeded both threshold and objective accuracy requirements.
“This solution shows how our integrated scale, expertise, and speed come together to deliver trusted, mission-critical capabilities that empower the warfighter,” the company stated.
Path to Fielding
Northrop Grumman worked with the US Army to shape the PGK E5 around operational requirements.
Production is now underway at the company’s facility in Plymouth, Minnesota, with initial deliveries expected in early 2028.
