“Mini Harpy”: Nueva Loitering Munition presentada por Israel.

 La proliferación de escenarios de “Guerra Asimétrica” y antiterrorista, ha potenciado el mercado de las “Loitering Munitions”. Basicamente se trata de drones aéreos que se comportan además como misiles. Trasportan una carga explosiva y un sofisticado sistema de adquisición de blancos, que les permiten actuar de manera autónoma para atacar sus objetivos, con la particularidad de ser ellos mismos el misil que impacta sobre el blanco.

loitering smart munitions UAVsBANGALORE, India – Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) at Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel, has unveiled the Mini Harpy loitering autonomous weapon, which combines technologies from smart munitions and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Intelligent Aerospace reports.

26 Feb. 2019 — The Mini Harpy combines the capabilities of IAI’s two flagship loitering missiles — the Harop and the Harpy — to blend electro-optical and RF and microwave sensors.

The Mini Harpy can neutralize RF transmitters like radar; uses electro-optical sensors to capture threats on video; and can launch from land sites, from helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, and surface warships.

The smart munitions can loiter, lock on to targets, and destroys targets by crashing into with the Mini Harpy’s 18-pound explosive warhead. Electrically powered, it has a range of about 62 miles.
