En el PARIS AIR SHOW, la empresa Raytheon ha presentado una versión optimizada de su “Counter Drone Laser System”, especialmente apto para dar seguridad perimetral a instalaciones militares, frente a la constante amenaza de pequeños drones de fácil obtención por fuerzas irregulares. El nuevo sistema, se puede programar para cumplir con reglas de empeñamiento específicas, con el objetivo de neutralizar los UAV a las mayores distancias posibles, minimizando además los daños colaterales sobre población civil.

Raytheon has extensively tested a counter drone laser, successfully shooting down 50-odd drones up to the size of the Chinese-built quadcopters, using a 10kW High Energy Laser mounted on a Polaris MRZR so the system can be used in austere environments such as forward air bases. It can be programed with a specific set of rules of engagements to limit collateral damage and help ensure flight safety.
