El último fue un misil R-29RMU Sineva, de combustible líquido, con guía astroinercial, con más de 8.000 km de alcance y capaz de transportar 4 MIRV (vehículos de reingreso independiente), lanzado desde un submarino sumergido. El código NATO para este misil es SS-N-23A Skiff y entraron en servicio en 2007 en submarinos clase Delta IV, que puede transportar 16 de ellos. Los otros dos lanzamientos fueron realizados por un submarino y desde un lanzador terrestre.
MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. The Russian Northern Fleet’s nuclear submarine Novomoskovsk has successfully test-fired a Sineva intercontinental ballistic missile from the Barents Sea at the Kura practice range in Kamchatka, the press office of Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
“The launch was carried out from the submerged position. The missile’s warhead arrived at the Kura practice range in north-east Russia at the designated time,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement obtained by TASS.
The actions of the sub’s commander have been professional and competent, the ministry said.
“The crew is ready to accomplish tasks as part of constant alert forces,” the ministry said.
Russia’s Defense Ministry reported earlier on Wednesday about another two launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles.
The first missile was fired from the Pacific Fleet submarine Georgy Pobedonosets from the Sea of Okhotsk at the Chizha practice range in north Russia. The second missile was launched from the Plesetsk spaceport at the practice range in Kamchatka.
